It is genuinely the best gig I've been to in at least 10 years. Until you've been in a phone free gig you dont realise how much having phones around alter the experience. From the way they alter crowd engagement with the show - big moments are now enjoyed live rather than just a moment to film for example. People seem less restricted on how they behave- be it dancing or singing along no longer worried about their own videos or others filming them. I made temporary friends in the crowd for the evening. I hate seeing a sea of phones, and am someone who definitely would rather be in the moment vs. looking through a screen to make sure I'm filming properly. At the end of the day, the artists should be able to choose this mandate if they want. Don't like it? Don't buy a ticket.
