It sounds like music made by someone who has a pretty easy life just writing music that sounds like what they think music is. I wonder if questioned about the meanings of the songs he'd be able to dive into the inspiration behind them or just have some half baked vague answer

I don’t listen to male artists at all and many of them have some problematic aspect to them while Benson Boone seems to be a cool dumb guy doing his thing, you know? Also he has this healthy relationship with pop girls so I kinda respect him

He’s very unproblematic! It’s just cool to hate on his music which just isn’t very good, but unfortunately people are being quite mean about him as a person, even though he seems like such a nice guy

I mean taking no public political stance while wrapping yourself up in the American flag at a time when American pride is increasingly seen as a manifestation of 21st century facism is why people are hating on him. 
The only unfortunate thing is his inability to speak.

He's from that same set of liberal mormon/ex mormons as Imagine Dragons (who I think scouted him/pushed him initially) and at this point I feel like they just live in some fantasy utopia we all can't see. Seems lovely, but it does make boring music.
