I can assure you that progressist-conservatives couple exist, it's even something very common. I mean we all know this sociological scheme of the women being usually softer and more empathic than their men partners. It's usually a good thing cause they can moderate each others to not fall in a form of ideological standardization. And tbh, I don't think Joe is an extremist like the ones we see on Twitter. Gaga described her father's younger years as S*x, Drug and Rock 'n' Roll lifestyle. He just became a bit grumpy by aging.
