Snow White Live Action Honest Opinion

Hi It's me, your favorite body of water and mod, River, who's still in Gaga's eyes 

So I just finished to watch Sperm White and the Seven C-nts live action on Disney + and here's my review.

If you forget for a second the whole anti woke mob, the movie is really bad:

1. was the movie really inclusive?

imo it's far from it, Just because Snow was Latina, didn't make the movie inclusive or woke, when at the same time, her father was white, her love interest was white, but more than that, he was a type cast hollywood sweet boy with the specific beauty standard of white actor with blue/green eyes and nice hair, all the Matt Bomer and Henry Cavill look-alikes.

2. was it really "modernized"?

We already watched the strong independent fierce Snow White on Once Upon A Time and they gave her more depth than this movie could ever give. "damsel in distress" was never really the problem of the original movie or the story, but about "beauty" and they had the opportunity to expand this issue about beauty standards, body dysphoria and self acceptance, but instead they kept it shallow and focused on "beauty on the inside" idea, which IS outdated.

3. Acting:

Gal Gadot is a horrible actress, this weird voice she did that she couldn't keep it for a whole scene was just funny and please, don't let her sing ever again.

Rachel Gaslight, same, just bad, stop acting.

4. CGI: some good parts, some bad parts, like the transformation of the evil queen to the old hag.

5. Evil Queen: Once Upon A Time did it better once again.

6. New songs: most of them were just copy paste of Frozen 1 and 2 songs, especially Waiting On A Wish, very similar to Let It Go.

7. last thing.. the movie still followed the idea that the color black is bad and white is good, at the last scene they all wore white. for a movie that supposed to inclusive, that felt tasteless, I know it sounds like a reach, but the color black shouldn't be associate negatively anymore, it's another hidden way of expressing racism that we all fall for it sometimes. just a thought.

I think the movie is judged unfairly but this is just my opinion. Public opinion prior to its release, drove people away from watching it which is sad. Its not as bad as everyone made it seem. The actress who played Snow White was good and she sounded amazing. 

 

I only have 3 issues with the film:

1. Gal Gadot, why is she even here? She cant act and cant carry a tune, her vocals and acting were horrendous in comparison to Snow White's.

2. Lackluster ending, I feel like they didnt know how to end this movie.

3. CGI dwarves, just why

 

Having said all that, I didnt mind it when I watched it for the first time. It wasnt completely terrible. It wasnt great either. It was okay. The Snow White actress should venture into music, if someone like Selena Gomez can make it then there is hope for her.

its an entertaining kids movie, its not that deep

I kinda liked the prince being a bandit moment cause it adds more to the character, but the costumes, singing and acting were very bad.  Disneyland actors do a better job and have more expensive looking costumes than this multimilion mess. 

Also the whole pre release and press era were so bad, why did they not give Rachel any media training or cues on what to say and more importantly what NOT to say.

I also watched it and within 1 minute of the film (I kid you not)...they explain her name was chosen because...wait for it...she was born on a snowy winter day...so her parents called her Snow White...

It was at this point I knew the movie was gonna go downhill fat! 

Then the songs are NOT catchy in the slightest and the only ones they did somewhat justice were the original classics...the new songs felt like something out of a spoken word poetry night from a cheap bar around the corner...I didnt get the style choice 

The acting was also horrendous and the scene takes were not the best...actors making weird faces...delayed reactions...awkward transitions...it felt amateur and messy af 

No prince charming...she literally falls in love with a bandit 

The dwarves were true to their personalities but the CGI was so cheap and distracting when they could have just hired real actors 

Snow White's outfit looked like a cheap Halloween costume and her HAIR was beyond ugly 

Glad I didnt waste my money to see it in theaters...it was truly meant for direct to streaming...another flop for Disney and ruined the classic...they need to stop these live action remakes and get back to original storytelling 

And one more thing...wtf was that ending scene with the Evil Queen? Snow White literally did nothing...the queen basically killed herself and everyone just lived happily ever after? Movie was one of the worst disney has created...

Even if the pre-release marketing was perfect and there was no controversy beforehand...the MOVIE still would've been review bombed to death because its still a horrible film and Disney should have just released it on streaming and accepted the losses...

The movie truly is not as bad as people are making it. It’s a Snow White film like?? The original wasn’t that great so it’s not like they had a lot to go off of.

I don’t doubt that the movie is bad. Most of the live action Disney movies have been terrible. 
 

What really weirds me out is the amount of grown men who have latched onto this movie to bully Rachel Zegler for her looks. 
 

I don’t buy the “she’s a horrible person” excuse. Nothing she’s ever said is that bad and people are selective about who they’re willing to forgive for annoying behavior. There’s so much hypocrisy.

Yea, I'd have to agree cause at the start my friends and I were like oh that's not THAT bad, but then it started going downhill very fast

Yea, they really fumbled on the casting, especially using cgi on roles that could have been played by actual humans. I still can't believe how non Disney versions did such better jobs at costuming most the time, even actors.
