GerMonsterNotta 1,381
In your opinion what are Gaga’s career peaks so far… and specifically which moments most represent these “peaks”? For me: - TF singles being everywhere back in 2008/09 - Paparazzi VMA performance …. Bad Romance and Telephone avant garde mv releases, TFM success - BTW meat dress announcement / BTW Vessel Grammys performance / BTW album release / BTW ball - ambitious world tour (although sad end due to injury) - Sound of Music Tribute - Superbowl national anthem / Superbowl half time show - ASIB success / ASIB soundtrack / ASIB Shallow Oscars win - ROM mv ft Ariana (it just brought the world some joy during COVID) - DWAS smash / Abracadabra mv / Mayhem release, blending old and new sounds Edited Tuesday at 11:18 PM by GerMonsterNotta 4

I'm kidding I understand why you didn't put it in your list! I wish we had 2015GagaInSpace! AVeryGagaHolyDick 24,747
Major career peaks? Definitely The Fame Monster era. While The Fame was already massively successful, she was perceived as a hit maker that wouldn’t last. The Fame Monster made her an absolute icon, allowed her to be taken more seriously and was incredibly culturally significant. She was the biggest star on the planet and no one could even deny that. Then, A Star Is Born. It’s rather far behind The Fame Monster, but it really did its thing, helping her to stay on people’s minds, seeing her raw talent and expending her artistry like never before. 4

Hehe I remember it well justice for GUY video, and justice for the Venus video that never was…… it was still a fun time to be a fan, but also turbulent too… 1
NUTELLA 7,612
The period of time between TFM & BTW was unreal. Everyone alive knew her name. Everyone knew the Bad Romance chant. She had several hits under her belt & she had no missteps yet. I would consider that to be her biggest career peak (probably best represented in one night by the 2010 VMAs). 3

Amazing times….. what about BTW… although the album was polarising for some I felt like (1) The explicit LGBT messaging hugely pushed a boundary for the time (2) The sounds on the album were ahead of it’s time (3) I felt she really developed vocally especially during BTWB

However, after The Fame Monster, it really felt like the start of the fall (leading to ARTPOP). People were getting tired of her maximalist approach to everything, her singles started doing not so well compared to the two previous albums. The GP was either hating on her or mourning the old her. Now, the album has the respect it deserves. But back in the day, the album’s reception was messy af.

Monstermilo 4,392
TF/tfm - commercially her best peak she was busting out hits back to back born this way, some people say no but it had 4 top ten singles, thats impressive no matter what people say superbowl 2017 A star is born/winning an oscar mayhem/coachella/copacobana i think her stock as an artist is at an all time high sure shes had some lows like ARTPOP, but she is so immensely talented and its rare to find someone whos objectively gifted like her but also has the VISION that so many pop stars lack, that she will always bounce back and remind the world what a force she it i can envision a few more peaks even if she has kids in the decades to come. and then going down in history like cher or madonna Edited Tuesday at 11:38 PM by Monstermilo

Yes I love this….. reflecting back I also think it’s amazing that given how ‘big’ she was getting, instead of just churning out catchy music, she really homed in on building something more meaningful…. building and empowering a community, being explicit on LGBT, ….she really could have played it safe and could have GP-darling’ed herself for much longer, but no, when she was getting big she chose grit and drama and strong / polarising messaging/sounds as something she believed in… Edited Tuesday at 11:41 PM by GerMonsterNotta
SevenWonder 4,284
I think ASIB is really her biggest achievement. Not commercially, but because of its impact on her legacy. TFM made her an icon and the biggest pop star on the planet. BTW was her imperial phase Magnus Opus - a little ahead of its time, but a huge, huge success. Then she dropped off. By a ton. The trend continued through two album cycles. She was fading and seemed destined for B status, with an A level peak. ASIB totally reversed that trend. And then some. It reaffirmed her as one of the biggest pop stars ever AND it gave her a new found fanbase and new found critical success. She was no longer the weird meat dress singer. She was Lady Gaga: classy, vocalist, movie star. She saved her career in such a unique way, one that was fraught with risk: A remake or a remake of a remake with Americana songs to go with. And it worked. Which is so Gaga. Mayhem is another peak (and my favorite), but ASIB is the thing that even gave her the chance to release something as spectacular as Mayhem. That's my two cents anyway. 1

In my opinion she has three peaks with The Fame Monster, A Star is Born and Mayhem. It gave us some of her biggest songs ever with Bad Romance, Shallow and Die With a Smile.
