Monstermilo 4,392
yall saying that anytime beyonce is criticized is because people are racist is insane! it diminishes actual instances and systems of oppression that affect regular people. people can criticize beyonce without it being because of her race.

If she auctioned the tickets off to then donate money to foodbanks or food to foodbanks, it would be one thing... But if I was starving and trying to get a loaf of bread, the last thing on my mind would probably be about attending a Beyoncé concert in the rain where I have to find a way to travel all the way out to Tottenham and back. It feels slightly out of touch to me? This I agree with. If there were no other donations made to the foodbanks, it is very clearly just a PR stunt. Hopefully the foodbanks were based in tottenham to minimise the travel costs. Like on the Friday night, Sam Fender was also in town doing a stadium gig and like with all his other UK gigs this year he's hosted foodbank drop off points at the entrance along with charities like doctors without borders. That is absolutely the better way of doing it. But, if they are just going to give away tickets, at least they have gone to people who had no chance of affording them and now at least had something to look forward to.

There might be a couple of people in that situation who actually would like to go to a Beyoncé show but my guess is that most people in that situation have other things on their mind. The real journalists tend to apply to places like the Times etc.

Every time concert tickets go on sale, you can either choose to wait it out and either have to settle for bad seats or overpay for seats because the show sold out... Or to get a seat you aren't 100% happy with or paid more than you wanted to when better/cheaper seats will happen later. Ultimately what matters is whether or not you wanted to see the show, and that at that point in time you were willing to spend $400 to see it. It's a great show, you'll hopefully have a great time and since it's impossible to recoup the money you might as well make the most out of the experience. If you really wanted to somehow feel like a winner you could always buy a $100 floor seat for a different date and go twice, and that would mean you got both seats for $250 each instead. But yeah. I totally relate and empathise, I got a front-row side seat in the lower bowl for $400 too and since they changed the stage set-up it became limited view but I wasn't informed I could request an upgrade. The seat next to me was selling for $150 the day before the show. My issue is that it feels predetory towards die hard fans that will be there day one during presale and them casual fans get to have better and cheaper seats

No shade but she should do some fan driven contests like BBC giving out tickets to callers who get to answer some Beyonce trivia. And give the poor people, money and food instead of Beyonce tickets. This, she probably means well, but if I was homeless, or starving, I don't think I would benefit from a pop star's show ticket at all . Also, probably most people seeking aid in those places are not fans, and would not care, they might not have clothes or means of transportation to attend the event . I understand that, this was probably a good gesture, and she meant well, but... . I think a fan giveaway would be better, let's send food shelters some food instead HEART OF EVER-FROST 1
Wet Fire 7,278
Why is it so hard to accept that Beyoncé's foray into country hasn't been publicly as acknowledged as she'd have liked? She made an album that fuses country with other genres, a very commendable effort, a solid record in my opinion. But a lot of people have not been on board with it. And that's totally okay.

I think a fan giveaway would be better, let's send food shelters some food instead Food banks and shelters’ sole function is not just to provide meals, but also help provide some stability and normalcy to people’s lives. Giving them the free opportunity to do something fun is something these places do often. For example the food banks here often give families free tickets to Dollywood so they can have a day to just enjoy themselves and not be stressed. It’s not “Beyonce tickets OR food” its “Beyonce tickets AND food”. Artists do this all the time, they’re just reporting on Beyonce doing it because of the “struggling to sell” narrative. I feel you all are getting a little hung up on terminology and I’m actually looking into what the full scope of what these organizations actually do. My aunt literally worked in a local "merendero" for years in my country, it was a space for families to have lunch and occasionally bring some food to their homes. At least based on what I saw in there, it is mostly unemployed women and their little children that attend (the men in the family generally doesn't come, out of embarrassment, so their teenage kids or wives take some food home for them). At large, they're generally average citizens, completely uninterested in foreign pop music, and a ticket for a pop show is... not something most of them can benefit from, or even use, at all. I'm talking about people with no money for a bus ticket or a new pair of jeans, people with a single pair of shoes and a lot of daily worries. I have no idea if that's the case for the shelters Beyoncé and her team approached, it's a different country so it might be a different story. But the places of such kind that I know, need food, not free tickets. Most of them wouldn't even be able to attend a show of this kind, because they straight up can't afford the bus to get there. Well people are not going to ignore others also being misogynistic and constantly diminishing the success of their favourite artist and i cant say i 100% blame them. Yes its petty but it is what it is So if you're so above it all then YOU be the adult and avoid spaces like this instead of crashing out or atleast keep the same energy for every artist that gets this treatment on gagadaily then maybe ill take your sentiment more seriously.
