Eh Eh: Only understood it recently... Although I connect more with the acoustic version which is more sad and dramatic.

Poker Face: I always wonder when I'm going to have to "come out" to a potential lover and how they will take it.

Gypsy: I am often far from home, so I know what it's like now.

Dancin' in circles: There's something sad about this song, and I understood this years later.

Sometimes, it's not the song, it's a random line here and there.

"I wanna kiss you, but if I do then I might miss you babe" -> I realized years later just how true this was, that once that line is crossed, there's no coming back

"Watch me act a fool, tomorrow when I run into you" -> It IS awkward when you run into someone you dreamt of and you get a big flashback and you have to pretend that everything is normal. Sometimes it's not even someone you're attracted to, which is even weirder.

 

And bonus song for the end: she said she only understood Lush Life years later, and it was the same for me. I feel like we have a kind of connection this way.

I'll say Scheiße  

The depth behind it lyrically and as a performance is pretty cool. 

The German gibberish representing how feminism sounds to incels, "I don't speak German but I can if you like" being the people who TRY to be/say they are feminists but end up saying stupid sh*t (TERFs, other types of incels).

All wrapped up well in BTW's overarching theme of "what doesn't kill you, changes you, and sometimes you become stronger".

"I wish we could go through life without the Scheiße but sometimes you need a little bullsh*t to make you strong".

I’ve always seen Scheiße as the evolution of GH and kind of a precursor to SOAM: a woman in the entertainment industry performing for her right to be seen/have power and the struggle between conforming to get ahead vs. standing in your own power. I’ve always seen the gibberish as being the “****” she has to say or do to placate men (“I’ll take you out tonight, say whatever you like,” “I don’t speak German, but I can if you’d like”) with a touch of making it up as you go, trying to posture power + control without the tools.

Then what’s the ceiling? To me, she’s setting the scene of a supernatural, exorcist/ghostbusters type scene (bedroom demon) with insane sh*t happening all around the room and just relating to how crazy shes about to get sexually.

I don’t think the ceiling shaking has to be a double entendre for making the curtains cream to still work as a euphemism. I agree that she’s setting a surreal/horror/supernatural type scene, but I also think that the song is intentionally filthy in a pretty tongue-in-cheek way.
