I feel like Beyoncé is still being held to a higher standard because she's both black and extremely famous/successful/wealthy/praised and so people have this weird perverse desire to see her fail and stumble. It's a bit sad but it is what it is.

Like seriously the amount of work this woman has to put into her art to get just 20% of the success Taylor Swift is surreal. :enigma:

I mean on this one specific topic - she's not putting work in. She's engaged in rampant profiteering (like Gaga) that is fundamentally against the spirit of live music. So I fully hope she and everyone else who continues to do this gets burned for it.

Like Taylor absolutely engages in similar predatory behaviours with the vinyl variants, and has had a major negative impact on the vinyl market. But in terms of touring, Taylor's prices were lower and not dynamic which is the goal and should be celebrated.

What I meant is that if this were any other pop star the press would probably not be as obsessed with the ticket sales is all. There is definitely a big narrative that is revelling in her country music "flopping" – even though selling so many tickets in 6 nights in London for a country tour is a huge achievement. I do agree that the ticket pricing architecture is awful and needs to change though. Also Taylor's tour definitely had some high ticket prices and VIP bundles as far as I remember :messga: Just because the priicng wasn't "dynamic" didn't make the prices less extortionate. :laughga: Pretty sure she was the first to do £200 lower bowl seats.

I agree Beyonce as a black woman does get held to a higher standard - but I don't believe that's what is happening here.

She's relatively late to the party for media outlets and fans discussing slow burn ticket sales, dynamic pricing etc.

There are people revelling in her flopping, absolutely. But I think in terms of the ticket sale conversations, this is a subject that's been discussed since ticketmaster brought in dynamic pricing. And in the UK, it feeds into a government level debate about regulation of the sector after the Oasis debacle. Which is why even the BBC is taking notice.

There are multiple things happening here. She had dynamic pricing for the RWT but because it "sold out" no one really cared that much. Yes there were headlines about people complaining about the costs in the Sun and stuff but that happens every concert tour.

This was also the first time where weirdly Ticketmaster did not specifically flag dynamically-priced tickets as "platinum tickets" – usually when those do not sell out the event is still viewed as "sold out". But since these were not flagged as a separate ticket type, people all noticed the show hadn't sold out. Whereas in Paris they claimed the show sold out even though some Platinum tickets were still unsold.

The conversation here isn't about the dynamic pricing though – the media is specifically saying people don't care enough about the artist/the tour to want to watch the show. That's the angle they're focusing on for the most part, rather than to pressure a ticketmaster reform.

I do hope whoever runs ticketmaster burns in hell someday though. :enigma: I've never wished this on anyone but this is my one exception. Well. I have four exceptions, the second is Trump, third is Musk, fourth is Rowling. :messga: (Not in any specific order. Except ticketmaster guy.)

For sure, the tabloid rags are DYING for Beyoncé's downfall. That's how they always work :icant:

It's such a gamble though, like with the Mayhem Ball that strategy clearly isn't a reliable one. So it's so hard to figure out when to get tickets or not. :messga: I've decided Beyoncé's Act 3 is the last stadium tour I'm doing though, it's really not that enjoyable to go look at an ant perform in an open venue with very bad acoustics for that amount of money. From now on it's Arena or norena.

I agree. I loathe stadium tours so much, the views are terrible for the price you’re made to pay. I fear she won’t ever return to arenas but I’m for sure going to her next show for act 3

Well I believe the country Americana isn’t something that all of Europe is gonna get excited to see. Especially with the political climate.

I wonder how well having the Star Spangled Banner in her setlist plays in Europe lol. I can only imagine there are audible boos from the audience during the song.

I'm not even in the US, I'm in the UK and I was in Starbucks once and they were playing a Beyoncé playlist the entire day (not during a tour, just because the people at Starbucks were Beyoncé fans).

Doesnt that just prove my point? :bear:

The Grammys is also highly subjective...you'll never please everyone no matter who wins the awards but to say you DESERVED an award simply because you released a project and havent won in a certain category is a bit entitled if you ask me...and to think they basically handed her the award for Cowboy Carter and that wasn't even her best body of work...it felt so underwhelming once she won honestly cuz it felt her family kept nagging for it

She's great at pretending everything is fine when hell cuts loose, legends only.

Judas is coming, let the cultural baptism begin.
