‘Ma 2’ in development

Blumhouse is developing a sequel to its 2019 revenge thriller, with Octavia Spencer reprising her role as the eponymous killer. The project remains in early stages, with no director attached or release date set.

“‘Ma’ has proven to be a social phenomenon since its release in 2019, with fans eagerly embracing the film and Octavia’s iconic performance as Ma,” Jason Blum, founder and CEO of Blumhouse Productions, said in a statement announcing the sequel. “Ma likes to say ‘don’t make me drink alone,’ so we’re thrilled Octavia will join us again for a second round.”

The original film followed a group of high schoolers who find an unlikely, intergenerational friend in Sue Ann Ellington, a lonesome veterinarian and devoted party animal played by Spencer. The woman, affectionately called “Ma,” allows the teens to party in her basement, but things get bloody once their relationship starts to sour.

What? I thought Ma died at the end? Or they are going to make it as a typical fake out? 

Not sure how I feel about this. This can go south like the initial sequel to Halloween. I am using this movie cos it seems to be very fitting example. A sequel to a slasher movie that becomes iconic & a pop culture phenomenon after initial release. We know how the reception is for Halloween 2. So let's see how Ma 2 going.

I feel like it will get stuck in development. The whole reason Ma did was she did was revenge based, she didn't attack random kids. A prequel probably wouldn't work either.

I watched the first one last week, and tbh it was SO BAD

the plot was too predictable and honestly it was a painful watch wasted 2 hours of my life for this

Mm ive seen her on other films and Shes a really bad actress. It worked only on that movie. And It had its UPS and downs. Its more of a iconic film from its time, the sequel Will be a miss for sure.
