Lucas 26,094
I truly don't find any similarities between ARTPOP and Mayhem. One is a great album and the other one is ARTPOP Edited Tuesday at 04:34 AM by Lucas 3 1 1
Anderson123 37,947
Mayhem takes me back to The Fame Monster and Born This Way. It’s Gaga at her best with the music, performances, interviews, happiness, just that spark she lost during ARTPOP. 1
Emvee 8,236
What’s with the souring on ARTPOP and Chromatica during Mayhem? It’s sad that people are jumping at the opportunity to put those two albums down now that she has a relatively successful era. 4

TimotheeChalamet 5,496
I'd rather have those than "she's man", "transGa", "flopGa", "Madonna is better", "she's a Satanist" etc

Yeah I noticed that too and worse is that it started from her own fanbase

Chromatica I understand as Gaga herself admittedly wasn't into promoting it, nor did it seem like she enjoyed making it in the slightest from what she said. It wasn't bad, but it definitely came from a different place. ARTPOP however I think there's a certain subset of fans that have taken an extreme hatred of it due to several reasons. 1) It's critical and commercial response at the time being not as high as expected. Mind you it was by no means a flop - it just came after the unprecedented success of Born This Way 2) The behind the scenes issues with her team. 3) It's resilience and reevaluation as being ahead of its time despite its hardships at release. Experiencing that era and the lead up to it, it was clearly the most excited she had been for an album and project. She shared so many concepts - most of which didn't come to fruition. She played demos from her car because she couldn't wait. She produced by herself for the first time. She reinvented herself into a new concept almost weekly - it was chaotic, colorful, and alive. Even when her team and the label got in the way she still fought for that album. Applause was the lead? She leaks Aura before it can release. DWUW replaced Venus as a single? Gaga still planned the video (also maybe shot it maybe even given Ruth Hogbens vague response about it in 2021). Gaga fired Troy Carter and she went out of pocket to make a full multi song film for G.U.Y. so she could at least make the best of what she had planned. Yet. There are fans that insist that ARTPOP is her least favorite and she hates it... Meanwhile its been included regularly in setlists and Aura seemingly contributed to the naming of Enigma, and the resulting song from that concept. ARTPOP was the last time we saw Gaga unafraid to be so proudly and unapologetically a pop star - so yes Mayhem IS ARTPOP coded. I don't think Gaga hates ARTPOP or is traumatized by what she created during that time - the public/critical reaction and treatment of her by those close to her however certainly seemed to be the things that took their toll, especially given recent interviews. 2
Cavadour 2,306
Yeah. The never ending labelling mania. Ppl can't live without. Like the new Madonna or any attempt to compare... I also loathe this kind of meaningless one liners copypasted everywhere. The unpredictable nature of Mother is her appanage. Late to the party but I got a diamond heart
