I mean, from a personal experience, I wouldn’t trade that intro for anything and I don’t think Gaga can come up with a more powerful one. I can totally see the Zombieboy and SOAM segments getting reworked

It still does feel strange from a marketing pov, since she’s bringing the tour back to Mexico and LATAM (allegedly), how they’re gonna present it like hey guys it’s the same show but with a couple of new tracks so it’s not 

(Also I often forget she didn’t tour the US with this show, it would be criminal to keep it as a Coachella exclusive)

As much as I looooove this show, it doesn’t feel like a MAYHEM show at all. Too focused on her catalog, not enough MAYHEM material

This show screams “this is where I am in my career”, not “this is where I am in my artistry” if that makes sense. It feels like it’s a celebration of Lady Gaga the pop icon more than a celebration of the album itself.

That’s why I wouldn’t be too surprised to see a completely new show next. After all, I guess there’s a reason why these recent shows weren’t labeled as MAYHEM Ball shows

So yeah some changes could happen in the setlist. But the scenery will be back, it has been confirmed by the guy who made the set. 

He probably doesn’t know sh*t though, how would he know the difference between two different shows? We know how these things usually work, Gaga’s people send “send us a stage/outfit, etc. this week” to the artist and there’s nothing more explicit

I personally hope that her discography gets a better representation. Skipping 3 complete albums is a bit disappointing. I get that Joanne is a bit difficult to incorporate into the setlist but ARTPOP and Chromatica getting completely snubbed doesn’t feel right.

“Not enough MAYHEM material” - meanwhile, she performs the entire album except two songs lmao. It actually feels more like a MAYHEM show than it feels like a Gaga retrospective lol

I think MAYHEM isn’t really MAYHEM without Don’t Call Tonight, LoveDrug, full DWAS etc., it’s like the Born This Way Ball without Bad Kids or Electric Chapel, they’re not fan favorites but they are essential

Objectively true that she performed predominantly material from MAYHEM and most of the album, not to mention that she’s only every done three tours where she performed any album in it’s entirety (BTWB, ArtRave, TMB).

I don’t really see how opening with a truncated version of a deep cut that leads right into a song from MAYHEM and closing with your one of your biggest hits (standard fare for a pop show) makes it “not MAYHEM enough.” Not to mention that the entire framework of the show is literally based around the concepts from the Disease and Abracadabra video and Abra and PC and Disease are definitely all big moments that move the plot forward. But we clearly don’t have the same criteria here, so let’s just agree to disagree.

Very true, but I feel that even visually, the JWT and TCB were more rooted in their initial album. I feel that they fully had the spirit of their album even though she re-imagined them. TCB started with Bad Romance but on a dead stage, fitting the “fame is prison” narrative from Chromatica, and it closed with Rain On Me and Hold My Hand (her most recent releases). The JWT started AND ended with Joanne songs and the Joanne hat.

Not saying there isn’t a strong narrative with this new show, it’s her vision and every performance happens for a reason, but personally I feel that MAYHEM ends up being quite diluted. It doesn’t change the fact that I’m in love with the show, it’s breathtaking

You guys are delusional for wanting the opera house in an ARENA. It is not an arena friendly show as it stands in my opinion. For going through all of the stress with buying arena concert tickets versus stadium tickets (this was HELL compared to Chromatica Ball) and her specifically stating she wants a particularly immersive show - I personally will be very disappointed if it’s the same set. There’s just not enough moving parts or visual spectacles to make it seem fantastic in an arena in my opinion. You won’t convince me the Opera House is better than the JWT, BTWB, or artRave stages with the floating bridges and FOUR stages, moving giant light-up castle, or see through runways and dazzling light shows.

Given that eclecticism is kind of the premise of MAYHEM, I don’t really know if I agree that it’s not “rooted in the album’s aesthetic” (especially since the dueling twins the show is based around are literally from the MV for Abracadabra). She also opens the show in a variation of the Lady in Red outfit and closes in a variation of the “pure white” Gaga from Abracadabra. IMO, that’s more thematically complete (and tied specifically to the lore of this album) than almost any of her other tours.
