Gold Derby predicts Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra” as frontrunner for Song of the Year nomination at the 2026 GRAMMYs.

Lady Gaga is also a strong contender in other major categories, with MAYHEM for Album of the Year and “Abracadabra” for Record of the Year.

Judging by recent winners in that category i dont see Abra the type of song to win in that category, Luther by Kendrick for me is a strong choice in their tbh. Plus imo is too early to predict that, we know artist can drop surprise things nowadays, Taylor is releasing Look What You Made Me Do soon and it will probably be first contender in that category :lana: not to be that negative person but i dont see any Mayhem material to win in big categories besides album of the year maybe or VIY could get a cute ROTY nominee but it will need to be release and be a huge success for it

It'll probably be nominated but I doubt it'll win.

Interscope and her team once again ruined her chances by lack of promotion (radio etc) and a physical single release. It could have been a no.1 or top 10 hit but it didn't get the attention or push it so rightly deserved. Also dance-pop songs rarely get taken seriously in the main categories by the academy (look at poker face, bad romance etc)

EDIT: So a few people have responded below as if I'm saying Gaga herself hasn't promoted the single which is clearly NOT what I'm saying at all. We literally got her best music video in years, SNL performance and an epic Coachella set etc.

This comment was mainly aimed at the label/her team for not taking advantage of Abracadabra's viral success and promoting it heavily like DWAS which got a heavy radio rotation and physical single release etc. Abracadabra literally should have gone to no.1 or top 10 at the very least and I'm sorry that I'm salty about it!

I thought that Taylor doesn’t submit the re-records for Grammy nominations, just new songs from the projects.

If you could both please re-read what I wrote...I said Interscope/her team NOT Gaga herself. Let's not twist my words here.

Radio didn't give it much of a push when Abracadabra was released if I do recall correctly. Also as I said before a physical CD/vinyl single release would have given it an extra boost during the first few weeks of release.

I still wonder why we didn't get physicals. I'd love to have an Abracadabra CD to sit next to my Stupid Love one above my piano :bradley:

interscope/her team are responsible for every bit of promo: every performance, the grammys premiere, the mastercard deal, playlisting, the music video...

the promo gaga did isn't seperate to the team or label lol

2.1 million people were just singing their hearts out to Abra :traumatica: the promo was in full force, it was a global smash, physical copies would only give it a better US chart placement

mother, what must i do?

if they did all of that and still couldn't release physicals and get a good radio deal then it doesn't make sense lmao

Surely they'd want another no.1/top 10 hit for one of their biggest signed artists? I genuinely don't get it...this should have been her 'flowers' moment. This is her biggest solo pop single in years.

I know awards/stats don't matter but I genuinely want Gaga to finally win a main grammy category to make up for past major snubs (AOTY: The Fame/Monster, Born This Way, SOTY/ROTY: Poker Face, Shallow, DWAS etc) and this is her best shot in quite a while but it just feels like they didn't push it enough even though Gaga herself is putting in the hard work!

Sure it's a global hit...not disagreeing with that at all

however the topic of the thread is Grammys which is an American organisation and entertainment show hence why chart placement may potentially matter and come into consideration I guess? But I guess we'll have to wait and see!
