Damn, no sooner have we heard that she's been nominated to we get the confirmation that she's WON! I'd never heard of Sports Emmys before but was aware that they had various branches and knew all of them were valid. If anyone needs any further proof that all of this is counts towards EGOT, its been updated across every relevant Wikipedia page as well, including Gaga's and the EGOT page, it even lists her under the "people who are one award away from achieving EGOT status" in the "just missing a Tony" category. When looking up the full list of EGOT winners and their specific wins, Whoopi Goldberg, Alan Menken and Jennifer Hudson all only have one Emmy to their name and it's Daytime Emmys. So it doesn't have to be a Primetime Emmy for it count, as long as it contains Emmy in the title, it counts. 

This is monumental, what a surprise. Out of all the opportunities she had to win this, including the MB live at MSG, her final tv special with Tony and the freakin' SUPERBOWL HALFTIME SHOW, this was not what I was expecting but I love it. Always loved HMH, should've been a much bigger hit (especially as it from such a hit movie) and should've won the Oscar. The fact it lost the Oscar but won the Emmy...justice served. That song will now forever be immortalised in her legacy because it won this. And I'm sure it's the start of more to come. She will get that Tony one day and I don't care if it's for acting or writing. And I'm also sure that when she does, while she won't be the youngest recipient, she'll be one of the youngest. I'm sure she'll end up the second youngest female after Jennifer Hudson. One of the best surprises of the year, hands down!

There is that perception of course that she's just getting into theatre just so she can tick the final award off her list, but honestly, people have achieved the status at a younger age than she has. The youngest one ever achieved it just one week after his 39th birthday. 3 people achieved it just last year and 2 of them were Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, both of whom achieved their status in just 7 years, from 2017-2024. So Gaga first winning in 2010 and taking 15 years to get to 3 awards is nothing. I think much will be made of the fact that she's the only female artist of her generation other than Adele to be anywhere near an EGOT and we know Adele isn't interested in going anywhere near theatre so Gaga's the only one in the running. The only woman who's won it who's remotely similar to her is Jennifer Hudson. The rest are mostly men and very few are singers. For that reason, her EGO status makes her really stand out and would be a great addition providing something very different.
