The suspect, identified by authorities as Guy Edward Bartkus, is believed to have detonated the explosive in Saturday’s attack, which claimed his own life. Investigators are focusing on social media posts made by the suspect, including a 30-minute audio recording, which they say support anti-natalist views. While the posts and the recording are still being verified, officials believe they reflect the ideology behind the bombing. Anti-natalism refers to the belief that no one should have children. If I found out my embryos were damaged I think I’d be heartbroken. What an abominable man. I myself have anti-natalist views, but it feels reductive to say it's the idea that no one should have children. I just think it's selfish and unethical to have children - I think the anxiety of life is one of the worst thing you can inflict on someone. But I understand why people have children, emotionally and biologically. I don't personally think people shouldn't have children, I just think they need to understand the full implications of it before they have children; of what they are inflicting on their offspring by bringing them into this world.
