The post chorus of Kaboom sounds eerily similar to a riff from an old 80s hip hop track called Electric Kingdom by a group called The Egyptian Lover

When I was playing some unreleased stuff in the car the other day my dad (who was a DJ back in college in the 80s) was like "OMG SHE COPIED THIS SONG THAT 3 PEOPLE KNOW!!!!!!"

Then he connected his phone and played the actual song and I was like  How did she know about this song? or did her producer recommend the sample? is it kalenna's fault?

Wouldn't be surprised. People collaborate and listen to all sorts of random stuff. Her producer or co-songwriter probably knew this track and thought it'd fit Kaboom nicely. It's like Camila Cabello sampling that song the bomb that I had literally never heard before in my entire life - how would she know that song? All you need is to meet someone with extensive musical knowledge.

I think the only similarity is that they both used "drum machine no. 5" or something, not that one sampled the other.

that got edited into one of her old tour intros

but it seems like they don't have much in common except the name
