Different ARTPOP Ball?

When the ARTPOP era began, I imagined an epic tour worthy of that magnificent album. I had a vision that as news about Gaga’s life unfolded and the G.U.Y. video was released, started to make complete sense. In my mind, the ARTPOP Ball would open among the ruins of the Born This Way Ball castle. Mother G.O.A.T. had found a way to hack into Gaga’s mind before getting killed at the end of the last show, forcing her to dance until death, destroying both her kingdom and herself. But Gaga survives. Because monsters never die.

It's such a shame she was so overworked to the point of surgery and the BTWB was cancelled, we would for sure have had an iconic DVD released of the MSG dates

I still to this day have no idea what the concept for the concert is properly. I always thought it was inspired by Atlantica from The Little Mermaid (the castle on the stage, her various underwater creature outfits, the flowers onstage being underwater ones etc) but it’s her only tour that has a concept I don’t understand.

I love that tour. I still watch it from time to time even now because to me, It’s such a joy to watch it. Represents the perfect evolution of Gaga. After the Monster Ball, only something that grand could follow. It was the second concert I ever went to, but truly the first big one. The stage, the music, the atmosphere… honestly, it felt like touching the sky, like really knowing I wanted that life. Gaga truly took my soul that night. It was so inspiring.

With all the footage they must have, I’m sure they could still put out something incredible… or even revive it for a one night concert someday, that would be massive.

The concept of the ARTPOP ball feels more abstract, but like you said it's very inspired by Atlantica and has elements of mythology and pop culture here and there. It's the tour where the concept feels more abstract, but it could have been so much bigger from the beginning because it had so much potential. F*ck you Interscope. I think Gaga did a great job with what she had, don't get me wrong.

Sadly i don't think they have footage, it was obviously planned to be pro recorded at MSG just like the monster ball  the only footage would be if they recorded the live feed from the screens every night which im pretty sure they did not do, the closest we will ever have is the footage @ChicaSkas helped us get which is a recording from the live screen feed for one of the dates 

there might be terry richardson footage from whatever they were filming but that pretty much 100% will never see the light of day just like the DWUW video

If I were in her place, I’d make sure every single concert was professionally recorded and I’m sure she has a lot of things kept just for herself. Imagine having access to her entire legacy in perfect quality. Someone like her probably has an archive full of stuff we’ll never get to see. Who knows, maybe after she’s gone (not saying that I want that), some of it might leak or get released officially just to keep the brand alive and the money flowing.

This actually sounds like a cool Mayhem Ball concept since Mayhem kinda picks up where BTW left off, before the ARTPOP turn that lead to C2C, Joanne, ASIB, etc.

I still remember the climax would have been a battle with the "monster on board spaceship ARTPOP" and it would have been like TMB's angler monster but some new creature with several stages of battle set to the songs Monster, Judas, and finally Swine before she kills it and there's a short film of it dying and Gaga and crew landing in a lush world of colorful alien plant life before closing the show with Venus  

Now you've got me wanting to rewrite it

Do it! This is what I love about Gaga's art, it's so inspirational.

I've been trying these days to remember exactly what I envisioned at that time but I just can't. This story could revolve around soldiers from Mother G.O.A.T. searching for signs of life after destroying the castle. They would find Gaga in a tower, still alive, with metallic wings, singing an acoustic version of ARTPOP. And even though the soldiers try to revive the Dark Gaga, she ends up transforming the world and reclaiming her colors again.

That was one of the riskiest things I've ever done, collecting $900 usd from myself and many of you, and paypallling it to a guy in South America who sent me the uncut films in various gigabytes/ cuts , the largest being 26 gigs of raw fancam. 

 

We were so lucky (I was so lucky) I didn't get scammed out the kazoo.

honestly i barely understand it myself, but i tried to interpret it and came up with this:

first of all, the title itself "artRAVE: The ARTPOP Ball" separates it from Gaga's previous tours and I think this is because of the show overall not following a coherent storyline and she really just wanted it to feel like a RAVE. every act feels like a rave, just with a different vibe in each

I see the ARTPOP Ball as Lady Gaga's (as we knew her in 2008-2014) final show, mostly based on dialogue during the final artRAVE in Paris, and her statement that she will always do whatever she wants and not be confined to the restraints of being a popstar, as most of ARTPOP (especially the title track) is explicitly about.
the Next Day poem that Gaga reads on loop before the intro interlude I think is referencing the cycle/purgatory that becoming and being Lady Gaga felt like for her. It also makes references to SA which is a relevant theme through Gaga's music (i.e. DWUW, Swine, Monster) which caused her a lot of turmoil through the early years of her career having not processed it, and contributing to her chronic pain after BTWB.
and then the "Are you ready?" interlude is a chaotic intro to "Lady Gaga's " (the character) final show

In Act I, Gaga shows up as some kind of (fallen?) angel/goddess, representing her status and position as our "Mother Monster," could also be some kind of rebirth following the BTWB. and this follows in Act II where she is performing Venus and MANiCURE, I could see it representing her establishing herself as an underground New York artist because she makes a speech about budding artistic spirit, integrity, and FREEDOM which is a theme that continues through the show, and she praises her monsters, the ones who have stuck with her through the music, hit singles aside

The show continues forward through Act III, where she performs said hit singles and this moves on from "budding New York artist" to Lady Gaga the Popstar. However in Act IV, she performs Paparazzi, DWUW, Dope, representing struggles she faced in her life as a popstar and You and I and Born This Way for the fans, the part of being a popstar that she loved. During these segments, I noticed a lot of reflecting "talking about how Just Dance her life" (which I know she does a lot but it feels significant here lol) and talking about the past 6 years of loving her monsters.

Act V is just pure c***, with Judas/Aura/Sexxx Dreams/Mary Jane Holland/Alejandro.. seriously what a run  but then once it's over.. we get a jazz cover in Bang Bang, as Gaga talks about Tony Bennett and her new inspiration for the next phase of her career, moving on from the established popstar Gaga has built herself to be for the first 8 years of her career. After this performance, she gives a brief speech, note that she is calling back to the reflection and mentions of artistic freedom from earlier:

"Since I started my career, people have been saying that I'm 'weird' or 'strange' or they'd use the word eccentric, but the truth is, I quite like being called strange. and the more that this industry tries to make me more and more like everybody else, the more I want to rebel, be different, and ****. ****. the first phase of Gaga's career is coming to a close at this point. Gaga's pain from her years of touring and ARTPOP era struggles had caught up with her and she has decided to take another direction in her career to continue exploring her craft and herself as a person. she closes the main show with Bad Romance, Applause, and Swine, fitting songs to close this chapter and she speaks once again encouraging monsters to continue their dedication and passion for art, creativity, and talent. and of course, she returns for the encore to do Gypsy, with another exposition as she says:

"I hope that you'll always remember this time in our lives together. When we painted each other's faces and called each other 'monsters' and talked about love and art all night long. Every year, when I travel around the world, I always wonder if things will be different. Maybe one year you won't come to the show or you'll be less festive or not dressed up or something different. But what I realized during ARTPOP is that we belong together and some stories have no end. I will follow you around the world as long as you'll have me because I love making music, I love making art, and I love meeting all you beautiful, creative people. When this song is over, the clock will start ticking until the next time." QUEUE GYPSY

"I appreciate you so much, thank you for believing in me always. I'll always believe in you. When I die, they'll say 'Lady Gaga was special, but her monsters, they were really something.'"

Gaga is putting her trust in us that, despite whatever reinvention or genre-switch she will make, we will follow her through her career and support her. BECAUSE MONSTERS NEVER DIE.  hope this made sense

I like your interpretation, however I will say the Next Day poem was played because of the work she did with the artist at the time and the poem itself is centuries old and is about prostitution and the hidden sexual side of religion at the time. The song is repetitive to show how someone’s job as a prostitute works “the next day another turn came, and so it continued always the same coitus Christ curses ejaculation always the same”
