OliviaRodrigoStan 5,814 Posted yesterday at 12:22 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:22 AM (edited) A strange snow starts falling from the sky, killing those it makes contact with. A man embarks on a mission, to find his lost daughter amongst the deadly cold. Such is the premise of Netflix' new sci-fi hit series, The Eternaut. Based on a comic book of the same name, published in 1957, the story imagines a post-apocaliptic scenario, where humanity's darkest, and brightest aspects, are exposed. Survival of the fittest, or collective effort? which one is it, that is closest to the true human nature? what is the true color of the human heart? . Starring Ricardo Darín, the series premiered to great success, with critics and audience praising its moody pacing and suspensful atmosphere. The graphic novel's author, Héctor Germán Oesterheld, was a geologist, and made a career in journalism before writing "El Eternauta". His political activism made him a target during Argentina's dictatorship, and he wrote part of the story in hiding. Eventually, the military party murdered him, as well as his daughters. The series, which consists of 6 episodes, is set for a second season, although no release date has been confirmed. Have you watched this retro sci-fi thriller besties? Morphine Prince 104,806 Posted yesterday at 01:47 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:47 AM I binged it last weekend. 3.5/5. It was good. There were parts the dialogue just got too much but overall entertaining show. The first half is different than the second half. Definitely worth the watch and finally an apocalyptic show not set in the US lol.

I was surprised by how good the ~performance~ from the english voice actors was. The man dubbing Ricardo Darín was so on point, I thought for a moment they were using AI cause it sounded just like him, but in english. I'm still a bit suspicious TBH HEART OF EVER-FROST 1 1
beli8 1,420
About to finish watching it. My childhood home is like 5 miles from the place where they go to towards the end of this season (don't wanna say more to avoid any spoilers)! I love Darin so it was a must watch for me and I'm happy that it is getting a lot of recognition outside of Argentina.

I just watched a video of the "lloverga/paraguasca" joke in different languages, it was funny to see how foreign translators tried to adapt it, since it's impossible 18 hours ago, Morphine Prince said: I binged it last weekend. 3.5/5. Apparently the graphic novel had a lot more action scenes, but then again, some of it might come on the second (and final) season. I regret not paying attention to my dad when he tried to get me into the story, he was a huge fan, but I didn't really care about sci-fi back then . I think I should also update the OP, I left out everything involving the author's political activism, and his murder, and it's actually noteworthy. Specially considering right-wing voters in my country are trying to sabotage the show, arguing it's "a leftist series" (which yes, it is ).
