Well, as always happens with me with new music, I hated it because I dislike most songs at first listening, except for a few I didn't dislike (PC and VIY), but didn't love either. I was also disappointed because I thought the sound would be similar to Disease.

Now, after watching so many videos and reactions and live performances and listening more, it happens what always happens with music and me: I love the album more than Chromatica wich was the tour that made me a full stan.

I found the album to have dark themes like Disease, but also fun. I don't dislike any song, which didn't happen with the other albums, and changed my mind about 70s, 80s, and 90s sounds.

My initials faves were

-Abra, LoveDrug, SOAM and ZombieBoy.

I think Zombieboy made room for HBDUWM and SOAM for VIY, though I still enjoy SOAM a lot

My first listen, I thought oh no VIY as 3rd/4th single, but now I'm waiting for it.

My bottom 3 changed, Killah is now above The Beast and BOG

I was sooooo disappointed when I first heard it, the three first singles were all perfect to me. I didn’t have any specific expectations but I certainly didn’t expect that :ladyhaha:

I love it now! Not as much as her first 4 albums (especially the first 3) but an awful lot more than Chromatica, that’s for sure.

I’m not a fan of disco and stuff so obviously, MAYHEM doesn’t have its full potential with me, but I still enjoy it a lot.

Most choruses are super great, but sometimes the verses don’t do it for me (Zombieboy, LoveDrug, Don’t Call Tonight, HBDUWM, Shadow Of A Man) and I find the new ballads mid at best (Hold My Hand level or worse, I stream Folie À Deux instead lmao) but there’s definitely a couple gems. The singles obviously, and I reaaally love Vanish Into You and Killah, I enjoy Garden Of Eden and Perfect Celebrity a lot too even though it took me quite some time to acclimate to the production of the latter and to the chorus.

This album is full of life. I really enjoy the lyrics and it’s amazingly mixed/mastered. I also love the music videos and live performances so far.

My favorite were, still are and will probably always be the first three singles, followed by Vanish Into You and Killah (it was the other way around at the beginning)

Easily a solid 7.5 or maybe even an 8 out of 10 for me. Knowing I’m very demanding, it’s a great rating.

I love it so much.

Not as "dArK" as it was teased or as the visuals and the first 2 singles try to make it look, and I still think it needed more songs like Abracadabra but it sounds really fresh and I think some songs are the best of her career

As much as I love It feels incomplete for me, if we could get kill for love and can't stop the high….on all forms of mayhem  I can't be changing my vinyls out mid play :ladyhaha: it would feel less in complete for me, throw in mustang too pls.

I think it's my favorite album of hers (or second favorite), and I'm still as obsessed with VIY as I was that first day––even more so, as I think it's my #1 Gaga song of all time, even surpassing "Bad Romance."

The album is no skips for me, but I have trouble not playing VIY on Replay.mp3.

I definitely will say on first listen the songs did surprise me sonically. I saw a cohesive theme sprinkled around the rest of the album that Gaga definitely teased in Disease with the gutteral gut punching vocal effects "UGH!".

Garden of Eden's use the the vocal effect at the outro added a layer of imagination to the listening experience that the vocal shouts made the listener imagine a character making that sound to get a sense of the emotions the song conveys.

On first listen, the best song was Shadow of a Man. The song made me see why Gaga teased it so long ago as the potential lead single at the time she released TCBF. Then plans clearly changed and we got Disease which i think introduced more of the concept but Shadow of a Man definitely felt like a true representation of the sound of the album to come.

Overall Top 5

1. Shadow of a Man

2. Abracadabra

3. Disease

4. Garden of Eden

5. Perfect Celebrity

I made a playlist with Can’t Stop The High and Kill For Love, and it’s the only way I listen to the album  it really does feel incomplete without those two.

LoveDrug was my first crush. Kill for Love hooked me up about the same time. Meanwhile I was kinda haunted by Garden of Eden, Killah and Shadow of a man. What was left of my brain after Abracadabra hit us, was such an omen of the great album to come that I haven't yet absorbed in all it's glory.

The only songs I skip sometimes are Blade of Grass (Gaga is in love. I get it. But I prefer when she's killing for it) and Die with a Smile (which I still struggle to accept as part of Mayhem).

This album keeps getting better and better

I feel the same way. Even when Gaga is not on my mind, her musical presence is hovering around. That feeling is more asserting since Rio. My god !

Late to the party but I got a diamond heart

I made it on Spotify. I downloaded some .mp3 files for CSTH and KFL and made a playlist with them and the other tracks on MAYHEM (+ the Abra Gesaffelstein remix :))

Chesescake

I think I like it much more.

Though I usually skip LoveDrug, Don't Call Tonight, and last three tracks.
