Better Song: Monster vs Zombieboy

I have to say that Monster feels far superior to me, and by a lot. Maybe it’s because Gaga’s early work was more grandiose, more epic, and now that she's already considered a veteran, it's harder to recreate that same impact.

If we’re talking purely about the songs themselves, I think Monster takes more risks, both sonically and lyrically. For me, Gaga's lyrics have always been the most important aspect, beyond the visuals.

While Monster says:
“That boy is bad, and honestly he's a wolf in disguise but I can't stop staring in those evil eyes, girl you look good enough to eat, he ate my heart and then he ate my brain”

Zombieboy goes:
“See you over there in the back of this party and your girlfriend isn't here yeah, your girlfriend isn't here.”

To me, Monster touches on much darker and more personal themes. That’s what makes it so powerful. Zombieboy, on the other hand, feels more accessible to a general audience, referencing the actual Zombieboy, which is cool. But its lyrics just don’t grab me the same way. They're not that interesting, or even appealing, honestly. I usually skip straight to the pre-chorus because I really don’t enjoy the “we’re about to be up all night waking up a zombie” part.

My issue with Zombieboy are the verses. It's a very straight forward disco song, and I hate disco music, so that's about it . 

I like the chorus, and I love the bridge, but I can't connect with the retro vibe overall, it really is down to it. If it was more of a hybrid song, like "Venus", which is very disco inspired but has more elements to it, it'd rank higher on Mayhem for me. But as it is, it just sounds like Disco Heaven 2.0, which is great for Disco Heaven fans, but I hate that song, so...

I think that Monster’s verses are better - but I think that Zombieboy’s chorus is superior. If you put them together, it would be the perfect song.

Definitely Monster. Zombieboy is fun but it's no where near Monster's league.

It was very hard to choose… I chose Monster because its core Gaga. But Zombieboy is incredible!

Zombieboy is a timeless classic. One of my top 3 off Mayhem. We have to stan.
