Was the Gagachella audience underwhelming?

well consider that her show started at 11pm after a whole day of music under the sun, so it is tough to keep up the energy..

Come on and wrap that blade of grass around my hairy ass

In Coachella, they were under the desert sun with no water for over four hours. No way for the front crowd to exit to relieve themselves and rest. I think Copacabana had more freedom and space.

Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊

I was at both Coachella and Copacabana and I honestly preferred the Coachella crowd because it was easier to hear/see her and take in the moment. It may have looked cool on camera, but the Copacabana crowd was overwhelming, pushy, and the fan clacking got old real quick and all these things made the experience less enjoyable in my opinion.

As a raver, I hate fan clacking

Why is everyone obsessed with saying this ? I was actually there and it was a blast. People were dancing and yelling just as any concert. You also have to put into consideration that she was the last act in a entire full day festival in a desert…

Am I the only person that thinks this argument going around is kind of stupid? :laughga: This isn’t to take away from the success of Copacabana, but there are so many factors to why Coachella seems “dead”, number one it’s a general music festival so obviously not everyone in Coachella watching her perform is going to be a hardcore fan that actively pays attention to her. 2, it’s a desert in with tons of people packed in waiting the whole day in extreme heat, and 3 judging everyone for not jumping and moving constantly is just unfair when you consider the possibility that some just aren’t physically capable of always jumping up and moving. Plus it’s pretty well known the festival is horrible with its audio on stream

I mean, it's kinda pointless to compare any of her audiences to Copacabana...It's literally the most attended crowd for a female artist in history, so obviously everything else will pale in comparison.

I mean Latin Am crowds are famous for their intensity so Rio was always going to have the wildest crowd.

But from seeing people's self filmed Coachella vids, I think the Coachella live stream just really edited the crowd noise out (which I hate for live performances).
That being said - Gagacabana was a Gaga show, people who went went to be at a Gaga show. Coachella is dominated by influencers and rich kids and is also a major festival so fans for a massive line up of acts are there which does dilute any potential specific artist hype.

Most people are just tired. Most people at coachella had been there since 1 PM, where the doors open.

And if you never been to Coachella, let me tell you that you will walk A LOT. From the campsite or where you drop off, either on shuttle bus or uber/lyft, or parking lot if you drive your own car, there were like few miles away, like 15 mins walk,  from that location to the entrance gate. And then once you go past it, there are acres of field that you will need to walk on, especially if you seek to see certain artists in various stages. And that is happening all day. And when you are not watching any artists, you will walk and queue for a long time for foods, or merch, or even the lavatory. So when the top billing comes on at midnight, most people are just out of their energy. The ones who are still energetic are either those who comes late, (they usually arrive around 6-8 PM), cos they only wanna see the main artists, or those who camped at barricades all day, (and being rude to other main stage artists cos they usually keep sitting down during this time to conserve energy)

Also it's a music festival,  it os not affordable, and a lot of people who went are not solely for Gaga. I saw some people actually left once they saw their fave artists.

So I would give them some slacks honestly

Totally different situation than Gaga in Rio, it is a free event, where Gaga is the only performer, and majority  ofpeople who actually make time to go and see her are actually interested or into her and her music.

I think another part of it is that a lot of people at Coachella may not have been as familiar with Mayhem.  People weren’t going specifically for Gaga.
