I've always thought it was dumb. Like, for every $500 you borrow you have to pay them back $550, why would you ever, just be hungry for a month and stop burning that extra $50  

I've seen ads for the "paychecks in advance" stuff though so I guess a lot of people do it 

The part of the city in the suburb I live in is absolutely saturated with those sharp loan places. "Money mart", "cash 4 you", "cash money". The interest rates are absolutely predatory, once you take out a loan ur in a death downward spiral that is hard to get out out of

 

I only ever met one person I know of that was open about using them. But the fact that theres so many in the same main street tells me a lot of people are using them and that theres high demand

 

Theres a lot of poverty, homelessness, prostitution to make ends meet, unemployment or minimum wage earners, drug use etc where I live. Not to mention overcrowded poorly maintained rental places cuz ppl try to split rent with many people so they can afford it

 

Its actually hearbreakingly sad. A few weeks ago I saw a guy eating out of the trash can 

 

The economic decline in the last 15 years of the middle class (but especially the bottom 30%) is absolutely stagering. Poverty (at least in this part of Canada) used to be something a few unlucky ones faced. Now, its like over 1/3 of ppl struggle just to eat and keep their roof over their head

Yup! Exactly as we’ve been screaming since Project 2025 started circulating and even before then! (I’m American and watching this unfold has been gut wrenching and I hate it here)

Guess too many of us wanted to learn the hard way and now we all have to pay for it

My heart really goes out to the sane 49% of your people. There's nothing worse than having your whole lives rocked and world made worse in every facet because of other people, when you actively tried to prevent it from happening. I keep hoping every day that something drastic will happen to create a positive shift over there

Thanks girlie  we’re doing what we can. There’s protests all over the place and people are organizing. I believe this is the first time in our history there have been protests in all 50 states at the same time. All we can do now is try and hope, however bleak it is.

We’re struggling over here with this insanity, but at least it’s also negatively affecting his core base. They won’t care because they’re brainwashed and basically in a cult, but at least they’ll be suffering too lol

My parents’ church with over half of the members voting for Trump had a prayer session for immigrants and I’m just like…. the infuriating hypocrisy. 

Then apparently proceeded to say they’re against what’s going on to innocent immigrants but it was “needed” to get rid of the criminals  

It’s a cult.

I saw a pretty convincing TikTok where the girl explained that a lot of trump's followers are doing a 'silent quitting' currently. Because they're so stubborn they will never admit they were wrong in the slightest, or even come out and say they've changed their minds on him, but that it's happening quietly. His core base is shrinking as they lose faith. All the commenters were telling stories of their hardcore neighbours taking down his signs in the middle of the night or their father's quietly starting to watch CNN instead of Fox but not saying anything, their brothers not wearing their MAGA hats anymore and their once-obsessed relatives just happening to not speak about him anymore when they talk. God I hope it's really true. It does make sense though that even if they changed their minds on him they would never admit it or tell a soul so that gives me a tiny glimmer of faith. Just sucks that a US presidency term is FOUR YEARS

This just made me realize that the MAGA cult is gonna respond to his death in the same way brainwashed people in North Korea were reacting to Kim Jong-Ils. They will be bawling and flooding the streets in memoriam for him.

Even worse, regardless of whether his death is by natural causes or not, there will be conspiracies that "tHe LEfT dId iT." We will probably see civil unrest too.

The media is barely covering the protests if they even mention them at all. Even the more liberal ones aren’t being too vocal from what I’ve seen
