Don't tell me that artists don't observe their peers and how their success measures up. Gaga and Katy were about the same level of success when they started out with Gaga ahead a bit but with Teenage Dream, Katy took centre stage and became more powerful, especially in the US and that's when Gaga started waning a bit. This is when Katy's ego got out of control and the shading started, starting with the Alejandro shade and it continued from there. Gaga even tweeted that they shaded each other back and forth at one point (do we just forget the "green hair and mechanical horses are the thing now" comment?). Now, Gaga claimed that despite all this to and fro that she now regarded Katy as her friend but she said that years ago now. By now, we've seen that Katy prioritises money and fame over art and morals and that's definitely something that Gaga can't support and her friendship with Kesha will ensure that getting close to Katy is just not happening. Working with Dr Luke again was the moment Gaga realises that she'd better give her a wide berth. Which I'm really glad about because Gaga's the type of person who would feature Katy on a song as a way to revitalise her career and then I'd have to feel conflicted.
