Tho i will say as much impact as Trump may have had he wasnt the entire equation. Many ppl who did not really love Pierre Poilievre were gonna go for him just cuz they were so over Trudeau

 

I also believe Trudeau going more left than the usual Centrist position of the Liberals (probably in part due to Coalition with NDP) was likely hurting them as well as it was splitting votes among progressives.

 

Had the Trump effect remained but Trudeau Remained instead of Carney, I suspect the Liberals would still have lost

It’s true. Conservatives had a 25% lead just a few months ago. Everyone had accepted they were going to be a majority government. It all fell apart in a matter of months. Largely due to fears and anger at “51st state” rhetoric

Yeah, the Liberals were not as efficient with vote percentages as usual it seems especially in Ontario. They are only winning because they still lead popular vote which is compensating for poor vote allocation ratios

 

They lost a bounch of seats in 905 area where I live cuz of it

well my riding **** the bed  bunch of moron can't figure out how not to split a very simple vote. Went from a Green party member, very active in our community, great guy, to a conservative lady who doesn't live here and didn't even show up for the debate... I hate it

I think the NDP started doing so poorly that the NDP voters decided might as well support the Liberals and block Comservatives than to waste your vote in a futile attempt to revive NDP who were bound to be destroyed this election cycle

 

I have never seen the NDP do so badly since ive payed attention to politics

What's funny about him is I pay so little attention to proper foreign politics (elections like this, candidates, polls, etc) the first thing I think of when I hear Trudeau's name is the "people-kind" thing

I think our system also makes each persons strategic votes count more too since we elect seats by riding so a Province can contribute seats to multiple parties

 

In US as far as Presidential election goes the electorial college makes all votes from a State go one way or the other. I find that a bit odd and unfair

 

I mean the popular vote in our system doesnt guarantee a win either but it is closer to it and allows each area to have more influence
