No I get this. One of the things that drew me to Gaga in the beginning was her political statements and stance and the meat dress was a solidifier for me stanning her due to its meaning about don’t ask, don’t tell.

Therefore her lack of opinion/stance on Palestine and the ongoing genocide is one of the biggest disappointments I’ve felt from her.

Yeah she kept aggressively grabbing/manhandling gays during Vanish into You at Coachella. :wtf:

My friend who was there told me she threw bricks at the crowd when she wasn't on camera.

i mean she had these lyrics after all on coachella!

Aus-be aus-can-be *faugette begone* bi üske butt bare

Ich *lesbien ouster* be clair, es kumpent üste monstère

Aus-be aus-can-be faugette, *bigot be* uske-be clair

Have any of you guys concerned about her "speaking up", ever considered joining an actual political party, and doing real activism? :partysick:. I'm not even being shady: if your mind and soul are in politics, you should be politically involved.

Maybe if you guys engage in real activism, you would not be expecting political discourse from celebrities: you will be busy invested in debate with likeminded people, and you'll be able to enjoy popstars for what they do, which is pop music.

In my country, those who are politically inclined... join a political party. They don't sit in their homes expecting for celebrities to be their moral leaders.

I'm sorry, I know it's common in the US, but it's so bizarre to me :air:. My parents were activists: they gathered weekly with people in support of Cuba, they organized student exchange programs, my mother attended countless feminist protests, countless teacher's protests, my father had to flee the country during the dictatorship because of his political allignement, my brother goes to the gay protests, and he's not even gay, etc.

The idea of sitting on your ass expecting for Lady GaGa to speak for you, and think of yourself as politically involved because of it, is bizarre to me. I'm sorry but I will never understand it. I do know celebrity worship is a big thing in the US, but this will never not be weird behaviour for me.

Lady GaGa is a popstar, she makes music. If you're concerned about your country, go outside, and protest.

She’s a homophobe now, that’s why she didn’t include Can’t Stop The High on the standard edition of MAYHEM

Honestly i noticed and i kinda prefer it. It would only hurt her and still wouldn't change anything.

She's not a politician. She's a popstar.

Also, we already know where she stands.

Things are going great for her and she should think about her life and be happy, and possibly start thinking about another album already :vegas:

This take is so tiring. At this point, newborn babies exit the womb knowing Gaga is a strong LGBT advocate. She’s done so much publicly - maybe she isn’t as outspoken because she’s guarding her mental health. &nbsp

There’s such an over exaggerated emphasis on the impact celebrities have screaming “gay rights.” It’s nice when they do, but I’m so over this implied obligation. People will come to their own realizations through life experiences, not via celebrity. And again - it’s not like she’s completely silent. I’d have more sympathy for this complaint if she spent decades being silent but profiting off gays.

How about we pick up a few extra shifts at work and donate. Go speak at park or rally, idk…stop complaining about what others aren’t doing and do something yourself.

Some people think their “social activism checkbox” is complete because they repost pics on Instagram, but a celebrity spendings decades supporting us in a multitude of ways isn’t enough…major eye roll.

I mean, does she even need to speak at this point when this happen:

this was a safe place for LGBTQ+ to be who they are, it's something that hasn't been brought up much, but what Gaga created with the community is special and in this press conference you see it very well, it's not about speaking up anymore, it's about the fact that LGBTQ+ can feel free everywhere she goes, they can come with the outfits, they don't need to hide and be in the closet near her, she created the safest place for LGBTQ+

It's more than speaking up to me.

Come on and wrap that blade of grass around my hairy ass

I hate how every time someone brings this topic up, they get shut down by people saying "SHE DID X Y AND Z ONE TIME!!!"

Like y'all need to realize it's okay to critique and question your favs.  I've personally been feeling the same way.  I think the shout-out to trans rights was nice, but that REALLY doesn't replace the more solid work someone with her money and platform could do.

I don't understand why people are so hot and bothered by this conversation lol

Honestly lets stop relying on any celebrity, even the ones we like.

Celebrities will be fine no matter what.

For anyone who cares, if you haven't already step up. Get vocal. Support local community organisations however you are able to do so.

Just because one expects Gaga to speak up doesn’t mean they don’t do their activist part in real life though
