I wish artists who can't sing live wouldn't go on tour or at least admit no live singing is to be expected in order to not mislead fans. I wish that cause generally fanbases are fully delusional when it comes to lip sync and need a billion caught moments to admit it's an habit of their fav'. I agree they shouldn't do fake advertising at least I'm here to take a break from university homeworks :/

spicemuncher 1,698
I bought a ticket to her London show in 2023 just because Raye was opening and I really wanted to see her. I left 4 songs into SZA’s set because she was so obviously lip syncing and it turned me off big time.

I feel that there should be a disclaimer so you know what you're paying for. to me it's not worth paying for just to see a famous person wiggle around and move their lips to a backing track. the bar is so low if it's the norm to have singers who can't even sing 3

Now most new acts lip and it's a 2 min disappointment forgotten the next day. The bar is low indeed. 😆 Edited 19 hours ago by Guillaume Hamon

But I’m going to try and go to the Cowboy Carter tour too! At least we know Bey and Gaga will never let us down lol. I was gonna go to see kendrick in toronto, mainly for him. But beyonce is not coming to canada and im not going to the usa anytime soon, so uk was the only one that worked out for me and it conflicted with kendrick. Wish i couldve done both tbh

I remember watching the Grammys this year and it was one of the best ceremonies I'd seen in so long, but the one weak spot was Charli XCX lip-syncing her performance. Otherwise it was an incredible show. I'd literally rather hear someone sing and be less-than-great technically than just........ not even try.
SS77 1,940
I personally do get irked when pop stars lip sync. I’m not biased, so this goes for everyone. Even Gaga in parts of her career when overly heavy backing track was used It’s literally their job that they’re getting paid millions to do, for only a handful of days over the course of the tour Whereas, there are millions of every-day people who get paid minimum wage for their entire lives, to work under the microscope of managers who would fire them the second they underperform or make a mistake So when those same every-day people spend their hard earned money on an overpriced concert (we all know there’s a concert overpricing pandemic right now), expecting a live show, only for them to be shown a glorified equivalent to a drag lip syncing performance, I think pop stars should be held accountable Edited 13 hours ago by SS77

SlowLoris 1,036
Lmao I get not wanting to let go of the idealized image you have of an artist you like, but c'mon y'all, there's no justification for this. You pay for a ticket to hear the artist play live. Otherwise, you stay home and listen to the album or watch videos.

I remember being appalled at her using the studio melody (not harmony) vocals during the chorus of 'Paparazzi' during the first few artRave dates. And I'll never forget the meltdowns it caused on GagaDaily And how much louder they were than her mic, once the chorus kicked in. I initially thought she was just lip syncing until further listens over the next few tour dates. And that choreo was probably the most simple of the entire tour. In the video linked below, you hear her seemingly stop singing once the chorus starts. As a Gaga fan who expects 100% live vocals, I was very put off by this. Especially since her voice hadn't sounded like those studio vocals since like 2006. But luckily, it only lasted for a handful of dates at the beginning of the tour. Tbh I'm always careful with these old cellphones vids cause the average sound quality always makes you hear the dominant sound ( be it vocal or instrumental ) and muddy the rest. She for sure at least relied on heavy backing vocals on these chorus but with this recording even an hearable live vocal added would be "burried". Now even if she did chose it as covering as possible, I went to the artrave and it was 2 hours of brilliant live singing often while dancing so I wouldn't blame her for 20 sec breaks between the Paparazzi verses. Mainly if it would have only been on one song for a few dates cause the one I saw had none of it. I guess she would have been scared at the very beginning of the tour and played it safe but why for so little in a long-ass show and on a non-demanding bit of her catalogue? And if she did I mean she's not trying to fool anyone with the album version and even pointing the mic at the audience in the bit you timestamped. 😆 She overtly let the album briefly play then.
