chun li 2,855 Posted yesterday at 12:15 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:15 AM it's kinda sad because it's not even the songs problem just the lack of production her melodies could do so much with a beat if she only allowed herself to experiment with some of that again

She's just not making interesting or variant enough music anymore. We're Lana fans, not the randos on twitter claiming it all sounds the same. We just want better from her. If you enjoy it, that's wonderful. I'll check back in 8 months when she decides she hates this sound and tries something else. fka butthole 2

Just something more inspired than carrying on with the stale and tired blue banisters vibe 2 1

Even though I haven't been connecting with these latest releases, Under Ocean Boulevard is genuinely one of her best albums (granted, Lana has a lot of "her best" because she's just solid at making good music). The rollout for Lasso or whatever this upcoming album is gonna be called is a bit yawn-inducing but I'm sure the album itself will be great. Not the biggest Lana fan (not because I don't like her but I don't totally connect with her music the way I do with other artists), but I 10000% recognize her talent and growth over the years. Going back to pre-Honeymoon would be a downgrade. It's like expecting Taylor to go back to her songwriting and production pre-1989. Yes, the music then was incredible too, but artists change and grow over time.

Elderflower 224
First of all, you can appreciate an artist without loving all their music. People can dislike a song or an album, that doesn’t make them immature or unintelligent. My holy trinity of Lana albums are Honeymoon, NFR and Blue Banisters. Ultraviolence is top 4. Born To Die is her worst album to me, I LOVED it and was OBSESSED as a teenager, but not anymore. The Paradise EP blows that whole album out of the waters. With that said as a background to the following opinion, I think: After three albums of folk, country and blues inspired music, I am desperate for something new. I don’t care about these two new songs. I’m indifferent to them Edited 13 hours ago by Elderflower

It's the pitfall any artist who moves away from their biggest or original sound will fall into. You can't guarantee fans will move with you, and when they don't they'll hang around demanding you move back.
bornthisway135 547
It’s funny that Henry, Come on actually got finished and released. I remember this song as an outtake like 2-3 years ago.
djBuffoon 12,069
That doesn’t surprise me. “Henry, Come On” was lovely, but “Bluebird” didn’t warrant a second listen.
