southpaw773 3,267
I’ve gotten to liking Dawn of Chromatica more than the OG. Except for that Sine remix Like a poem said by a lady in red
Controversiaga 11,011
That album has some of her worst, emptiest , least Gaga music- along with Joanne. alice 911 enigma and replay are great. Everything else is mid at best. And I feel like most ppl felt this way about the album since it’s release Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga” 2
vmpiregrn 957
Mayhem is so good it blew Chromatica out of the water imo — I think people are being reminded of just how good Gaga can be. Some of the themes were pretty ham-fisted and forced, imo. Gaga really embraced the position of a moral beacon that people idealize her to be and translated it forcefully into her art (Kindness Punk, lol). Windowlicker 3,514
Chromatica got me through 2020, but I have so many negative associations from that period attached to it and very little desire to ever return to it now. That doesn't even begin to get into her own detachment from it, which also dampened my enjoyment and excitement. Outside of that, it's still a very good dance pop album. Not Gaga's absolute best, and certainly not top 3 for me, but it was serviceable. I think it was necessary in order for her to finally return back to herself on Mayhem. culturalbaptism 2,918
Pandemic, her not being in a good headspace, the songs are too short made for streaming, not being able to explore the tribes as originally conceptualized, Bloodpop's production etc. Not using the original version of Babylon even for a single Judas is coming, let the cultural baptism begin. Tyler1992 2,264
This happens after every album release… The newly released album always causes its predecessor to be shunned. It’s honestly exhausting. My biggest cringe is the hate Bloodpop receives, as if he forced Gaga into creating Chromatica and dragged her into the studio. But Michael is a musical genius who rescued her and shaped Mayhem. 4
Elohim 1,721
A mix of bland concept for the album ( also kinda cringe imo), her trying to reimagine herself back to pop after Joanne and obviously ms.COVID19 appearance.

SimonBaetens 8,459
Bad single choices, horrible video for Stupid Love, Covid 19, 911 getting zero promo when you're lonely, I'll be lonely too / https://www.last.fm/user/SimonBaetens
SimonBaetens 8,459
It’s her worst album but it’s still good, that’s how iconic she is. when you're lonely, I'll be lonely too / https://www.last.fm/user/SimonBaetens
JustTea 5,886
Simply, everything went wrong because of covid... --> No Coachella surprise performance with BlackPink, no music video for Sour Candy (would've been huge) --> No listening party, Gaga left the album hanging almost instantly, didn't even try to promo it like was planned... Finally MTV performance many months later and 911 MV as the final nail sadly. Other artists did more videos and such, I bet Gaga just didn't have the mood for that then. TheARTPOPball 456
After all this time, i do love Chromatica. But i remember when it first dropped, the biggest issue i was having with it, was the extremely direct/literal lyrics. Theres several moments on mayhem i felt the same way about early on. All her previous albums (even a lot of joanne) had super artsy, beautiful lyrics that were almost like poetry and chromatica was big departure from that and very easy to digest. Easy listening is great, but i was used to digging and analyzing what every gaga song meant and the only moment on chromatica that felt that was, really only
princedeeblebleble 1,552
I mean first and foremost the BloodPop productions, most of Dawn of Chromatica sounds more like a Gaga album than actual Chromatica and she had 0 input in that. Secondly the lack of courses just makes the songs less enjoyable, like what am I supposed ti sing along to? Third, the destruction of Free woman (justice for the demo version). Fifth the whole covid situation and her just letting the whole project be in the freezer for most the time.. she stretched 6 months of a planned era into like 2 years and then did more with Love for sale and gucci in a few weeks than for 2 years of Comatica
