I will not be misled by polls no longer :kry:

I learned from Miss Coconut polls the last time. People said anything to not disclose themselves voting for orange man:interestinga:

Call me pessimistic but I'll be shocked if there's even a fair election in 2028.

At the rate we are going your concerns are valid. Republicans in the house passed a bill that would strip voting rights for tens of millions of women :toofunny:

Honestly primary polling like this is useless this far out.

This time period in the 2024 cycle had DeSantis beating Trump.

After the political mess that was 2023-2024, I stopped supporting democrats on the federal level.
But.... AOC and Bernie are quite literally the only two people I trust in the government. Not even AOC on some days tbh. But I would vote for her

Democrats need to stop thinking about “who can win” and put forward the actual person who they want to be the president.

Stop trying to win over the center by delivering a milquetoast platform that doesn’t rock the boat too much. Actually sell America on your progressive agenda!

I agree! The centrist voting body is small anyways, democrats should stop appealing to them and rail on left wing policies that will energize their voters instead. Democrat ideals are the most popular in America, not this reaching across the aisle nonsense

Im not sure I agree with this part. Ur essentially suggesting ppl have to be either left or right leaning. Thats very partizan binairy very black and white thinking

There are many ppl that genuinely are more in the centre in between 2 parties and dont fully identify with either and must make a choice. Thats like saying because most people are either gay or straight that bisexuals are people who just cant make a choice. Definitely not true, theres a spectrum people can fall into even if the majority of people tend to be closer to one end or the other

Im sure the asthethics ur talking about applies to a lot of ppl but to say Centrists dont actually exist or dont care about policy is at best a severe over generalization that doesnt apply to everyone

Ive slowly veered more left over the years but I used to be more centrist as well in the past. I definitely cared about policy a lot. And since online u end up finding a lot of ppl who think like u, ive had a lot of conversations with other centrists too over the years and I just dont think thats a fair assessment

I'm inclined to believe that centrist platforms are valid in other countries, but in America, they aren't. There is no "reforming" the two-party system we have, it would require a dismantling. And we aren't going to do that. As such, "American Centrist" is much different from an actual "Centrist" in that an actual Centrist might have representative candidates that closely align to their political ideals. But for Americans, the two-party system has trained those that do care about policy to align with whichever party more closely aligns, no matter how far they might actually be; there are only two valid options because those that care about policy in America are the minority. Almost 40% of people that could vote didn't.

The amount of people who only voted for President and no other office was staggering, enough that it's likely what won Trump the election, especially in counties where Democrats won local races but lost Presidential. Think about that, they didn't care about who was governor, senator, representative on any other level, they just wanted Trump over Kamala - that does not speak to a voter who thought the GOP platform was more aligned to their interests.

This is compounded with the fact that an American Centrist isn't actually center as both the Democrats and the Republicans move to the right over time. What would qualify for Centrists ideals in other countries are sometimes left of Democrats at this point. American Centrists are conservatives who co-opt Centrist aesthetics to appear as if they're in the middle ground and "just listening to both sides"

LOVEDRUG

I actually really love AOC but I doubt she'd be able to win. The left just isn't particularly electable in the vast majority of western countries, and no matter how much she tacks to the centre, during the first five years of her time in office she was relatively pretty far left.

exactly. republicans will back whoever they put forward regardless so progressives should be doing the same instead of the constant infighting

My only problem with this is that leftists aren't the most reliable voters.

I mean, they had a choice between "Palestinians deserve security and the right to self determination" and "Israel should finish the job so I can build a hotel in Gaza".

And FIVE MILLION former Biden voters cited Gaza as the main reason they did not vote for Kamala. God only knows how many first time voters or otherwise made the same choice.

That right there tells me Democrats do not need to capitulate to the ideals of such stupid, stupid people 'cause they're a base only fit for losing.

Leftists should push during the primaries to nominate their candidate. But regardless of who wins, they need to be all in on whatever Democrat is nominated.

Whimsical bitch

we need a prgressive ticket, centrists havent been working, i think biden winning in 2020 was just a fluke cuz ppl were so tired of trump

i really wish bernie could run but hes tooooo old

unfortunately AOC is too young and her being a woman of color based on historical evidence is a hindrance to her chances. i wish it werent that way but ya.

honestly, i'm worried we won't even be having elections in 4 years time.  my family can say "he can't change the constitution" all they want, but he's already trying to.  i've started giving up hope that we'll ever have another president again, tbh.

everyone keeps saying "oh, he's back, he's back!" but the truth is i never left!

Democrats were saying this about Palestine.. yet they were the ones sending the bombs... the job was already done lowkey.
I wanted to vote for Kamala... I gave her a million chances.. but when she got on stage and said people cared more about grocery prices than Palestine I was immediately disgusted and went to vote for Jill Stein the next day. This country deserves Trump
