TEANUS 14,963
Everyone expected them to fall into madness together - not essentially watch one of them already be mad (Harley) and one of them slightly improve (Arthur). The musical aspect had sooooo much potential too. Them breaking out was really the only moment that seemed to fit the mold for what should’ve been. It should’ve been them wrecking havoc with the musical scenes highlighting just how disconnected they were from reality - with some sort of resolution at the end. They still could’ve had Arthur have some kind of realization at the end after seeing Harley be even a little more demented or something like that British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS
Ilia Malinin 1,546
from the first promo image of lee with a bloody nose against a wall, i thought it was going to go down an entirely different route and arthur WAS bruce's joker, but then todd philipps sh*t on everyone that liked the original and robbed gaga of any actual relevance in the movie. i wanted to like this movie, i was so excited seeing the production of it and that leaked scene where lee kissed a woman protesting outside, but the finished product just made me so sad. i love harley quinn and gaga, so i was hoping this movie would go places. it was sabotaged by the director, i fear. Tony31511 310
I wish it would have been more dark and heavy like the first film. JFAD was almost like a parody because the musical aspect just didn’t land. There was potential but Todd Philips failed to deliver. Such a shame because Gaga could have been a top Oscar contender this year but the writers and director didn’t create a good enough film. It was out of her hands, similar to HOG.
elegidadedios 1,926
I don't know exactly what went wrong with it but what I do know is that the reception was so bad and the overall feeling agreed on it being somehow cringe, it actually has the potential to be a classic campy film in the next 10-20 years so... Still a win, sisters
RichAssPiss 4,915
Incels don't like musicals. They made a movie the audience for the first movie didn't want.
SlowLoris 1,064
Where did it go wrong? Being imagined and planned out as a film. 🤡 No gaga hate, it was just... A terrible project, and I think she knows that

Ziggy 11,747
The issue is the men involved. Not one of them knew how to bring a musical to life and lacked a vision to do so. Every single one. The concept is gold. Gaga could have been good. Joaquin could have been. after reading John waters likes it it clicked that he is the ideal director for a movie like this. It needed to be dark and serious but also deeply deeply funny and almost meticulously committed to the bit. That’s the core and primary issue. The movie this needed to be was never going to be made with this team involved. i think of serial mom as a great example tonally of what this concept could have been actualized like Edited April 11 by Ziggy
Filthy Pout 42
So one of my main issues with what went wrong was I think the editing and decisions particularly with the musical scenes. There were just way to many musical scenes. I definitely found myself saying "another one" just when you think a scene is about to get good, it goes to music. Also the scenes were just way to long, they could have edited them down much shorter and it would have maybe been more tolerable to the GP. I think the asylum escape scene was a good example of what they should of been. That's one of the only moments it made sense, felt natural to the delusion they were falling into and it didn't drag out. Also Gaga was honestly used so little that I think the only reason they brought Harley in was to give Joker a reason to keep living. But other than that she didn't add alot to the story. 100% on the director and producers, not Gaga.
