Dems are probably gonna win control of the House at this rate, based on how poorly everything is going and how few seats they need to pick up to gain majority. At that point everything the Trump Administration does is going to come under intense Congressional scrutiny, which will add a guard rail against a lot of his authoritarian f*ckery. That being said, I definitely align with being an American Democrat when it comes to social/human rights issues/etc. I have been so alarmed by the tariffs issue, but my partner, a registered Republican 🙄, sent me this clip today (link pasted at the end of this post) and it does make me feel confused about how to feel about the tariffs. Is there a politically intelligent Democrat in this group that would have an emotionless, logic-/fact-based response to the following clip that backs up the "tariffs are bad" argument?
