The next president is going to have one HELL of a mess to clean up my god   Then watch.. they won't be able to clean up his mess during their term, with the best of efforts, and he'll turn around and blame them for not being able to fix things, and will get in yet again. Unless he converts the US to fascism in which case you're all ****ed forever with no going back

The thing is the bad fall out from all of Trumps decisions won’t take affect till the next politician is in power. And they’ll be blamed for the economic state, it happens all the time. The fall out of the Bush administration for example affected the Obama administration.  Republicans notoriously f*ck things up but the affects don’t take affect till the next Democrat is in office and then they use it as a campaign to get a Republican back in power. It’s all power play and part of the two party system problem. 
 

When the American economy crashes and imports are low, and their power in the stock market in the world drops. Plus their damaged relationships with international leaders (Ukraine for example) the next politician deals with the fall out and Trump gets no blame.

That’s why they have limits on terms (in my opinion) because if they had an extra term in power they’d experience the affects of their decisions from their first term. So if you wanna damage republicans reputations you’d need another republican after trump to be president to get the blame. Thus allowing Democrats to use their strategy against them.

However, I get how you feel. I'm sorry if I didn't explain it well, but I DO think Americans will obviously be hurt by the tariffs. Prices will come down to the consumer in a time when Americans are already showing signs of "price sensitivity" (becoming broke/poor).  I think foreign companies will also hurt, because Americans will have no choice but to forego certain commodities and luxuries in order to continue to afford food. But I think Americans will take most of the hit because you are right. 

My phrasing surrounding "20 years vs now" was an emphasis on Americans' focus on survival in the current moment. As in they are not worried about what the world will think of them in the long term, because many Americans are worried about their immediate needs.

Not sure if it's inflation or tariffs. Maybe both. But I feel like we're already seeing early signs of companies like Nintendo rising prices ahead of their future releases this summer. Insane prices...

Doesn’t appear to be true in this case. The tariffs are so broad in scope economists predict their impact could be felt by Q2 of this year and could trigger a recession by the middle of 2025.

A lot of industry experts are stating the sudden $50 increase on Switch 2 above the rumoured/leaked $400 pricetag is a response to potential tarrifs

Yeah, tariffs kick in almost immediately. Need only look at the effects of his mini trade war in his first term on farmers - led to massive surges in reposessions, loan defaults and suicides.
