So, was this just a reject and Gaga decided to release it anyways, or was this supposed to be a promo for Folie à Deux? Or both?

My questions exactly. Maybe it's not even a little bit important, but I'm nosy and like to know the tea.

Nah, Bruno and Gaga have very different styles when it comes to lyricism and general vibes in their music. The reason I never liked DWAS much is 'cause it's written like a Bruno song.

She herself said he approached her with the song and they finished it together. There's no way to know just how much he already had done.

This. Also Bruno is credited as a writer on the sheet music: Peter Gene Hernandez.

The way the music video is stylized in a 70's tv studio fits the vibe of Joker very well. At the time I was confinced the two were linked in some way. Wonder what happened.

According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch

I appreciate your commitment to the narrative we are supposed to accept! You're a dutiful fan. :fan:

I'm always suspicious of this woman and her ability to shape shift, though. She's skilled at pretending to be other people, writing in various styles and genres.

I love that she keeps me guessing.

What PS said is very much *not* the narrative we are ‘supposed to’ accept lmao. The narrative we’re supposed to accept is that the song is that it’s an essential piece to the puzzle of MAYHEM, not that it was a Bruno Mars song she helped finish that was only intended to be a standalone single lol

Okay but if it was a mistake wouldn't it be a very specific mistake?

Interesting. Agreed. Say more!

The movie may have been her biggest flop but this song (which to me was always clearly written for Joker originally) is now her biggest hit. We love to see it.

Hear, hear! As usual, rising above everything with her inescapable genius.

This part :billie:

It's just another kitschy Bruno song. No different from the dozen+ more hits he's made.

I’m pretty sure it’s a publishers mistake. The same Hal Leonard offers the digital edition of the sheet music without the subheading:

Ooh...good investigative work. But maybe they forgot to add the subheading here?! :awesome: I'm such a pill.

Interesting! I had not thought of this at all. It actually makes a **** load of sense. It was released closer to the release of Folie A Deux…and the lyrics are very much in line with the movie story/characters like mentioned by others in this thread. Jokers classic smile! Ofc he would die with it on his face.

It could very well be related to Joker 2, lyrics make so much sense and radio hosts here were talkin about the song being on Joker 2 OST before the movie was released...

And then she performed it alongside Harlequin songs at the event they filmed but never released... :messga:

That would've been a much better win than the Emilia Pérez song though. :cyanlights:

I've emailed the Hal Leonard product support team to clarify why the subheading is there. Not sure they'll be able to answer at all, let alone answer straight. But I'm out here doing the important work, LOL.
