PROOF?! DWAS by Gaga for Joker: FAD

Today I went to Hal Leonard's website to purchase the MAYHEM PVG songbook for my piano-playing sister as a gift, and looky what I found in the sample pages preview (see "Sample Page Six"):

As you may note from the image above, the preview page for "Die With A Smile" includes the subheading "from JOKER: FOLIE A DEUX." Is this an honest mistake or proof of what was supposed to be before plans changed?!

Some of us suspect that DWAS was actually written by Gaga for J:FAD--not by Bruno Mars as a one-off (nice story though, Gags)--and I think we are correct.

Discuss!

I don't think so. Might have been thought tò be added to credits, but It all pointed tò the Song being done pretty late.

Hal leonard doing a mistake ... They're sheet music like Isnt the best thing. You're cute for this

well, the song is kinda talking about their hallucinations as a dream, like Bruno's part is very Joker POV

Nah, Bruno and Gaga have very different styles when it comes to lyricism and general vibes in their music. The reason I never liked DWAS much is 'cause it's written like a Bruno song.

She herself said he approached her with the song and they finished it together. There's no way to know just how much he already had done.

So, was this just a reject and Gaga decided to release it anyways, or was this supposed to be a promo for Folie à Deux? Or both?

Teehee. Yeah, I can see an editor with murky pop culture literacy thinking, "Isn't this from that Joker movie...? Better make a note to credit it."

DWAS is Gaga's best standalone single from Bruno's album, cut from Joker: Folie a Deux, and always intended for MAYHEM, lead single but not, reverse Warholian expedition :enigma:

I appreciate your commitment to the narrative we are supposed to accept! You're a dutiful fan. :fan:

I'm always suspicious of this woman and her ability to shape shift, though. She's skilled at pretending to be other people, writing in various styles and genres.

I love that she keeps me guessing.

The movie may have been her biggest flop but this song (which to me was always clearly written for Joker originally) is now her biggest hit. We love to see it.

Trying to decipher the actual lore is a lot of the fun for me. For history's sake. :awesome:
