MonsterfromVietnam 70
though I can only love 5 or so songs in Mayhem and I can say I'm in love with the entire Chromatica + its (wasn't properly executed) concept, I still cast my vote for Mayhem. It's because I feel like Mayhem is oozing with happiness as she finally gets to a better chapter of her life. To be honest, I sense pain and mental unstability in Chromatica and that makes me really uncomfortable listening to it.
chromaticainmyhead 6,549
I feel like both albums are very much connected. I've listened to Chromatica for the first time in a long time a few days ago and I was actually quite suprised how fresh the sound of it was. It sounded nothing like when I listened to it after it came out or in 2022 or something. I feel like Mayhem is the 'poisoned' version when Chromatica is meant to be the 'antidote'. That's how I feel about these records as of now. I like Mayhem very much but the effect Chromatica had on me recently made me think how underappreciated it is and that it definitely needs more attention especially in relation to Mayhem. fan-tas-tique, chic, freak, slaaaay

Imo Chromatica doesn’t have any song that’s close to the quality of Die With A Smile, Disease or Abracadabra. While I agree Mayhem is the better album, Replay, Enigma, Babylon, and 911 even are top tier Gaga songs. When she first did Replay live, we shared the same, if not, similar hype as we did with Abra
SpadesToStart 3,155
Too much recency bias, ask me again in 3 months. i really love Chromatica, so she ain’t going down without a fight. But Mayhem is a such a vibe.
RochestrMonstr 2,601
I bet Born This Way is the only album that would stand a chance in a GGD poll against Mayhem right now. Mayhem would obviously crush my dear Joanne worse than it’s crushing Chromatica. ARTPOP and The Fame would probably be beaten but not by as much of a landslide as Chromatica. The Fame Monster….maybe. I still think Mayhem would beat that one one too. Then again sometimes my guessing is way off with what this fanbase likes, so maybe not Edited Tuesday at 04:04 PM by RochestrMonstr

cathair96 21
Mayhem is the only album to rival BTW for me and might actually edge it. The thing about MAYHEM, and I thought this as I listened to it before I saw Gaga say something of a similar nature but, MAYHEM is the party where every previous iteration of Gaga is welcome to the floor. The Fame, The Fame Monster, Born This Way, ARTPOP, Joanne, Chromatica are all present in MAYHEM. MAYHEM might not have any billboard smashes (except DWAS) like TF/M and BTW but sonically I feel like the album is everything of her previous albums but made better. Perfect Celebrity is Fun Tonight & Plastic Doll lyrically but Perfect Illusion sonically with hints of Aura (outro), and yet is better than all 3/4 of those. Garden of Eden is MANiCURE's sister, but better. Zombieboy is a mix of The Fame and Fashion! but better. Basically, my answer is MAYHEM, lmao.
TEANUS 14,443
Chromatica has some amazing highs, including Alice, Rain On Me, 911, Replay, and Babylon, but the lows IMO are very low and bare bones for Gaga’s output. And thats okay - she was very vocal about not being in the strongest place creatively because of personal issues British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS
Ziggy 11,119
Chromatica is good. It was the first album I heard in full and didn’t grin at anything at first listen. If you like house music beyond pop girls doing house…it’s just fine…you can clearly hear she’s uncomfortable and unsure imo whereas mayhem I think she sounds livelier and much more invigorated. The songs are better written and have more interesting production. Even if you love Chromatica, it’s hard to deny mayhem has tighter hooks and songwriting. 911 and replay felt like the only songs I really felt were interesting on Chromatica. It was dance, kinda tragic and confessional, fun vocals, cool production. Madeon did his big one on 911 Edited Tuesday at 06:46 PM by Ziggy
Melodean 8,298
Chromatica will always be my numero uno I totally get the quality of MAYHEM is probably better and the production is 10/10 but Chromatica does something to my soul that I cannot explain. It’s full of emotion when I listen to it, but I also love House music so much so that plays a big factor to it. For me it will always sound fresh too. mayhem I love you but Chromatica is my bestie https://open.spotify.com/track/7q1GGm2mBlC9hPWige0C6e?si=6b5319d0e3b44fa6
vmpiregrn 514
I had to suspend so much disbelief to get into Chromatica. (I also really dislike house music, I know, sorry). Mayhem has reignited the spark Gaga lit in me when I was eight years old watching Just Dance on the family computer looking over my shoulder to make sure my parents couldn’t see
Juniper 903
There’s just 3-4 songs on MAYHEM that I prefer over Chromatica so I guess in general Chromatica has fewer skips - for me. And just to add, as for many Chromatica got me through Covid - but also through recovering from a brain tumor so there’s a lot of feelings involved. The Fame Monster 4,105
I'm still dancing through my pain with Chromatica. I just love the album so much. It's sad to know how much Gaga struggled while making it, but that doesn’t take away from how brilliant it is. Alice, Free Woman, and Babylon are some of my favourite Gaga songs. And while I really like Mayhem, I think I need a bit more time to fall in love with it the same way I did with Chromatica.
