2School4Cool 6,397
MAYHEM and it’s not even close. I love Chromatica, but this album just has that unexplainable quality that just makes it feel so special Edited March 25 by 2School4Cool See The Best In Everyone 11
Anderson123 37,440
Mayhem is a much better album from start to finish but Chromatica has it’s great moments. I’ve listened to Chromatica a lot since it came out and only during these weeks I took a break from it to focus on Mayhem and going back to it makes me appreciate it so much more. They feel like sister albums in a way that Mayhem is the healed version of it or how Chromatica needed to happen for the creation of Mayhem. Also want to take a moment to say that as great as Chromatica is, the songs feel more like they were just following a (very good) formula, while listening to Mayhem you can clearly hear Gaga’s spark and passion again, something I hadn’t heard since ARTPOP and Born This Way. 3
Bobina 1,997
Chromatica was her first album I had to learn to love. The sound just wasn't for me. Mayhem clicked with me right away and I wake up with a new song stuck in my head every morning. So Mayhem all the way! "634 blowjobs in 5 days. I'm really quite tired." 6
AVeryGagaHolyDick 23,283
MAYHEM! Imo Chromatica doesn’t have any song that’s close to the quality of Die With A Smile, Disease or Abracadabra. 3 1
MajorMinus 170
100% Mayhem! Every time I listen to Chromatica, it just seems so uninspired compared to her other work - I enjoy the songs, but after hearing her return to form with Mayhem, I’m like THIS is the Gaga I’ve missed!!
TAIPEI 2,443
much the same imo, but i prefer the visuals and aesthetics by chromatica which comparing to mayhem. 1
Lord Axel 781
Recent bias makes this super hard because Chromatica is so special to me for many reasons, but MAYHEM is much more my personal musical style so I could totally see it overtaking Chromatica at some point ʟɪᴠɪɴɢ ᴛʜᴇ ɢᴏʟᴅ ᴀɴᴅ ᴛʜᴇ ꜱɪʟᴠᴇʀ ᴅʀᴇᴀᴍ ϟ†▽✰𝒿 ~Ɐ
Blackout19 11,162
Chromatica is Gaga's best album It takes a smart brunette to play a dumb blonde.
PartySick 153,065
Mayhem. It's not even remotely close I still remember my first listen with Chromatica and thinking "...this doesn't feel like a Gaga album, what gives..." Then the mutilated final version of Free Woman put me off to every other song after it they gutted that poor thing and stripped it of everything that made it sound unique and alive. The final version is so synthetic. And that's how I'd describe the whole album: synthetic. It feels like a clean room. Like it was given all the space to be born but fills only a few inches of it. An amalgamation of Bloodpop's stale sample packs and minimalist style invading what were otherwise good ideas. She says the words but the sounds don't carry any emotion at all. Meanwhile, Mayhem actually has a full sound. One stadium shaker after the next. I wanna learn more about how they created it 'cause that bit that I caught where Gaga explained that they played a bass into a program and mutated it into a synth is just THAT is how you make music innovation, fingers to strings and sticks to a drum set, not copy+pasting a sound file 40 times and calling it a beat 🧡The blindfold's off my eyes, all I see for me is better days🧡 3 1 4
REALITY 75,342
MAYHEM is sonically my favorite Gaga album I love the combination of industrial, electronic, techno, dance, funk, disco, and glam rock. It's all my favorite genres blended into one album and I couldn't be happier with it. Chromatica is a good album and it's aged well, but I think it's a pretty safe album; I would've loved more experimental techno/house sounds. And since I first listened to it, there was not a single song on MAYHEM that I disliked or was "meh" on—which is the first time that's happened to me on a Gaga album. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎
