Her "Rain On Me" video was so impressive. It annoyed me that she had to label it as a "parody" because of her weight.

It really wasn't a parody, it was an INCREDIBLE recreation of the video. The production quality was great, and I think she did the choreo amazingly as well. Queen.

I think the title was literally "parody", and everyone in the comments was like: "Gurl, where is the parody, this is literally the video, it's amazing". That I remember, it only had one "comedic" scene, where she eats something, but TBH, it felt like she made the joke before someone else did, it felt really forced, like "ok, I'm fat, so I HAVE to make a food joke, cause people will make fun of it anyways".

The video was incredible.

With the funny scene added then it does sound like a parody besides maybe she had to do it so it wasn’t taken down because if I remember correctly it uses the literal song and it’s not a cover

It could be a strategic thing I guess. But it is something that I've noticed a lot, with either fat, or trans public figures: more often than not, they'll make a joke about their weight/gender, simply because they know that if they don't do it, someone around them will do it anyways. It's almost like a defense mechanism, trauma response kind of thing.

And although of course I do not judge the person doing it, it irritates me that it has to be a thing. It feels unfair.

When I watched her video, it felt like a homage, not a parody. It was a frame by frame, perfectly crafted, reproduction of the original video. The costume, the choreo, everything was so good. So, when I saw the little joke scene, I was like: "Ok, of course we have to have a mandatory food joke".

It's just a common pattern I noticed. My reasoning was not: "She can't make jokes about food", but rather "It would be unfair if she felt obligated to include a comedic element on this amazing homage, because this is fantastic and doesn't need it", that's literally it.
