I just think the hyper-focus on sales and streaming numbers can sometimes take away from simply enjoying the music. Of course, following charts can be fun, but when it turns into stress and constant comparison, it starts to feel less about the music itself and more about external validation. Just my perspective! This is putting it nicely. I came here for Charts discussions originally and I’m avoiding those threads as much as possible because - instead of what should be overwhelmingly celebratory discussion - it’s the same people using stats, comparisons, etc. to arbitrarily deflate Gaga’s successes. Like, it’s fun to play “little manager” in the off season, discuss what could’ve been done better, vent about promo, whatever… but what’s the point of those games if, when we’re literally in the middle of album release week surrounded by favorable metrics, people are actively seeking the few unfavorable ones or twisting others to convince us she’s flopping? They aren’t looking to metrics for validation - or, MAYHEM’s metacritic score or its predicted debut atop the BB200 with over $200k in sales would be providing that. They’re abusing #s to make their opinions look “objective,” when there’s nothing objective about calling pop stars 10 years younger her “contemporaries,” as 1 example. And these people are MIA in threads discussing the music, artistry, or anything else EXCEPT to remind us how underwhelmgly she’s doing. Therefore yes, people do need to touch grass.

artd0me 647
I am in general always surprised how people can get intense about discussions on an internet forum (let alone a comment section of social media posts).
TheARTPOPball 265
I see both sides I do see people doing cringey things, and definitely find it cringey. I do wish people would stop being harsh and mean about their gaga opinions (or any artist in general) calling them names or flops. Its unnecessary. I do find their comments about Michael invasive however, internet is diverse and full of different type of thinkers. Not everyone has social awareness or operates their brains in the same way. There is a lot of neurodivergence on forums like this, naturally. I feel like trying to police what others say or hold them accountable in some type of way is futile and certainly a waste of time. And it gives off minor control freak vibes. I have found the best way to silence these people is to disengage completely. They WANT you to debate with them. Next time someone says “FLOPmatica”, if we all keeps scrolling and pay no mind to it, it stops there and doesn't escalate into an argument/debate where they can say more offensive things. Gaga does not need us to defend her on a fan forum site. I feel like the only time we should be interacting with ppl like that, is if they are spreading misinformation about gaga, or someone else. In that case, they can be corrected. And the charts are the pop star equivalent, of sports fans cheering on their teams and wanting to be on top. Am i upset when gaga is not #1? Nah bc I'm a ride or die fan. But of course i love to see her getting the attention and recognition she deserves. Its nice to watch her get #1 debuts and trend globally.
