So I am not sure how well known this is but I read that Zombieboy is a tribue to Rick Genest from the BTW video. The bridge hits different now that I know about it.

So she understands why he wants to cross over and has come to terms with it, but she can't bear to watch him fade away forever. Instead she chooses to keep him alive in her dreams and fantasy.

I mean, it's a very horny song about lusting over a man in a relationship, it would be odd if it was... . I think the lines about him leaving, are more about her understanding that the guy in question is trouble, and she's better off not engaging with him. 

But who knows. Until she herself explains the song, we can never know for sure.

He allegedly died by falling off a balcony while drunk, I think we get the idea that he was a bit of a party guy throughout his brief life. Fun-loving, life of the party, stay up til sunrise type of dude, which was fitting given his tattoos and ZombieBoy persona. I think the song is just a playful ode to his essence and lifestyle and concocts a little story around it. Just because Gaga’s singing in first person doesn’t mean she is literally the narrator lusting over him. I think it’s more playful than that. Just my opinion

It still would be odd, IMO. A while ago a model here in Argentina passed away in her bathtub, and a local artist made a song about her, as a tribute, and it focused so much on her physical appearance, and how beautiful she was; it felt like he was fetishizing her . Like, dude, didn't she had ANY other trait as a human that you could think of, besides being pretty? . 

It gave me the ick a little bit TBH . If "Zombieboy" is meant to be a playful tribute to him, I mean, she's the one who knew him IRL, not me, maybe he would have loved this kind of tribute? IDK, I still feel weird about it. 

He literally died the same way Liam Payne did, if someone made a tribute song to Liam, that's like: "I can see your pants are on fire, I know you want this 🐱 😏", I'd be like NNNNNNNNNNNNN, gurl, maybe not . I think a liiiiiittle different than Liam bc in this person’s theory she’s speaking more to the essence and character of zombie boy not Rick himself.

yeah but there's multiple people/places/things saying that and a lot of them got it from before the album was released from fans assuming that, has she actually said it herself lmao?
