The sound is hard to pin down. She describes one track as a “happy apocalyptic tune” and says her influences include “’90s alternative, electro-grunge, Prince and Bowie melodies, guitar and attitude, funky bass lines, French electronic dance, and analog synths.” https://www.elle.com/culture/music/a63324386/lady-gaga-mayhem-interview-2025/ oh i saw that, but that is different than saying word for word that the second half of the album was funky as you claimed... Shipper 13,077
Ive been wanting this Disco Stick sound since I want your Love and her funky tribute with Stevie Wonder. When I saw her dancing to Janelle Monae performance a couple of years back I was hoping she could make some Prince inspired music. I dunno what people are on to be complaining. If you all survived Joanne, you will survive this. Gaga is ahead of her game and this sound will be the staple in the next few years just how dabbling in country has been the sounds since after Joanne. Aleksa 73
The disco funk "Kill for love" is SO MOTHERF*CKING GOOD! I am so angry I can't listen to it on Spotify.
TEANUS 14,974
If you only heard Disease and Abracadabra then yeah….i can see where expectations/assumptions were made. But if anyone followed the interviews, as soon as she said Prince/Bowie sound and “you think you know what you’re getting into then you realize you don’t” I kinda figured what was happening. I understand both sides That being said, I LOVE MAYHEM. It’s her best album since ARTPOP for me and Disease, Abra, Killah, Zombieboy, and Shadow Of A Man are career highlights British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS

Alfonso 1,547
obviously not everyone likes the same thing. I love Zombieboy, Fashion! and Don't Call Tonight. Killah is also a nice song, tho I can see that since it's more "old styled" song, newer generations might not like it as much?
