I've listened to the album at least 50 times. I'm disappointed in myself that I only like 5 songs on the album. The majority of the songs are absolutely not my taste and that makes me a little sad. But it is what it is. I hope that I like Mayhem more as time goes on.

I love disco and disco-inspired tracks. Maybe some fans see it as "basic" because disco is so deeply entrenched in the modern pop sound, but Idgaf if works for me. Assuming that there is a clever or unique twist on the formula, as Gaga tends to do.

genuinely don't remember that, do u have the link? maybe she said it just casually, still it was not the thing she was remarking more when it came to describing the album, and as i said i think she should've maybe allude more to it to not having so many fans having the wrong expectations

The music is SO good, so well composed, sung and produced that any slight disappointment some little monster may have had with the first listen (for not being an album full of Abracadabras) is immediately dissipated. It is impossible not to dance and recognize the enormous quality of each of the songs, possibly her best choruses in years or ever.

I mean, there was also her saying that what suprised her the most was how hard the beats were, but the harder beats on the album are Disease and Abracadabra, also her describing the album as a series of gothic dreams, and altho thematically it kind of fits that description, the sound of it is way less darker than what anyone would think a Gothic dream sounds like...
Also her remarking how the songs on the album were exercises on chaos also made me picture a harder and darker sound, i don't even think this is the more chaotic album she has, i think BTW and ARTPOP are more chaotic and would fir better that description

I know that she said to expect the unexpected and that with with the firsts two songs you'd know what kind of album you're about to listen  but then you don't, however with the picture she was painting previously i think that is understandable how anyone would've thought that unexpectancy would go in a different direction

I think she shouldve maybe allude more to the retro, disco and funk vibes of the album which was what most of the songs ended up being like, which was a total surprise, and maybe that's what she wanted, but it was pleasant to some people and kinda disapointing for others

I see your point and understand 🙂 its totally valid, its interrsting to me because funk and disco to me have really heavy beat (if you listen to how bass is reacting to kicks, it usually has a really heavy energetic pulse) but i guess we have different ideas of what is heavy. I suppose you wanted more of the clubby acid industrial streak of sound?

Oh i’m VIBIIIING to those songs so much I'm having the best time

But I do think the album title/aesthetics/booklet/promotion was HEAVILY misleading and doesn’t fit the vibe of the actual music AT ALL

so if anybody was expecting dark goth emo music i get them because gaga girl... u did them dirty

This is a valid point. Anyway, I think the standard cover (which was so criticized upon release) turned out to be truly representative of the album. With that more Prince, eighties style at one point. The photoshoot of her with that hair/wig I think fits very well with the sound style of the album.

My favorite ones besides Disease are Zombieboy + Killah. I love DiscoGa, my username is literally Disco Heaven so I'm not part of that group. Hahaha

Honestly, this album is amazing front to back with not a track to skip. The funk/disco songs happen to be my standout tracks. It's like a journey through her discography and influences – the purest distillation of what Gaga represents – an amalgamation of everything that came before her spun together into her own Frankenstein.

Killah gets stuck in my head even though I am still trying to wrap my head around it. I have tried listening it from the perspective that maybe  it’s Joe Calderones voice or something but I know that is not the case. Hoping it clicks for me.
