A bit off topic, but I actually think the official cover is The Fame inspired: Idk if anyone ever talked about this (probably yes) but I really think the MAYHEM cover is a nod to The Fame. In The Fame she used "artifice" to sell us her music, it's pretty, and it's inviting, this was a necessity, this was her debut and commercial success was important. But MAYHEM is her raw form, she's not "using artifice" anymore, this is her unafraid of what the world might think of her and her music, this is not inviting, and it's not pretty in the conventional sense (I find it beautiful), she's defiant and confident now. The broken mirror is also on the same side as the "ice" on The Fame (meaning?), and the pic it's more zoomed out, like you can see more of her now. I think she's trying to tell us something with this cover.
