PP and his campaign shtting the bed recently, thank you baby Jesus and Mark Carney Yeah Crystia was def an oppurtunist with that public resignation letter but it did create the conditions to finally force Trudeaus hand so i give her credit there Mark Carney may not sound like the most enthusiastic personality wise but i think Policy wise hes just what Canada needs rn. I know this may be controversial on a site like GGD but given were compteting with USA which went crazy on deregulation and tax cuts, its created a strain on Canada to try and compete and Trudeau i think went too far Left on economics given the circumstances especially on red tape and burdensome regulations Under more ideal circumtances such as before Trump era tax cuts maybe it would be fine.... but for right now a more Centrist policy leader like Mark Carney I think is what Canadas economy needs without totally screwing over the average joe the way Pierre Poilievre of the Conservatives would

I think she has the best interests of Canadians at heart but shes been so nit tight with Trudeau for so long its hard to tell what exactly shed to differently Mark Carney personality wise is more flat. Sounds like an old banker (which he literally was) and his weakness may be in motivating and energizing voters. That said policy wise hes very balanced i think. His background of economics really shows when he talks about policy and wanting to increase productity and business investment which has been so poor under Trudeau That said hes not as right wing as the Conservatives and acknowledges its not just statistics in economic growth and business and that the little guy needs to see benefits too I think hes a halfway between peoples needs and business needs. Typical Centrist That may not appeal to everyone but imo Canada needs to try and be a little more business friendly if anything because the USA went crazy on tax cuts for businesses and now we have to compete with that. Its not an ideal situation but its the reality weve been given and we have to work with it now Uf I was scared it would be another extreme right psycho like most European countries + USA lately... hope Canada gets the best!! That Mark Carney sounds like a good choice from what you described..

I’m again angered by the fact Biden needed to step down in 2023 and we might have had a normal election. To be fair, Trudeau had to be pressured for a while. Even when polling showed Liberals would win 3rd with Conservative Majority and Left Wing NDP and 2nd in opposition he still didnt budge Only when he fired his Deputy Prime Minister & Finance Minister Crystia Freeland (runner up in race currently) and she made her resignation letter public (before firing took effect) and criticised Trudeau did he finally cave. He had almost no support left in his entire party and everyone was pissed at him he refused to step down The NDP also threatned to trigger an election by voting non cofidence if he did not step down (its a little complex but can happen a lot in minority Governments and trigger early election) He literally held on till he had no choice so im not gonna say it was noble of him. His party just had a longer time horizon from when calls to step down startes than Biden & Democrats which changed outcome thats the only difference lol. Its possible Poilievre and Conservatives may still win but with Carney at least the Liberals have a fighting chance. At the very least if Conservatives still win it likely wont be by majority anymore. Again my worry is that he may be very pragmatic and sound and as someone who has an interest in economics I can see why the directions he wants to go in may bring the most business benefits while minimizing harm to Canadians But he sucks at sounding excited or inspirational and is too monotone. He needs to work on that and his messaging because the average Canadian will not understand or relate to his complicated terms and explanations

She is the best of the 4 in sounding inspirational and excited ill give her that I think she has a best chance of winning if Canada goes Conservative this next election and ppl hate it and wanna swing back left She did sound the more left out of the 4 candidates I also think someone like her could be good for Canada later if the US goes on a more sustainable path. Again, they have cut taxes and regulations so deeply in the US that that may be part of the reason that under Trudeau business investment plummeted and investment outflow to the US on a net basis really increased. We just cant compete with that race to the bottom. Its not an ideal situation to be raising taxes on Corporations and raising regulations. But again, thats an issue now. If the US finally gets they cant afford to keep taxes so low and force Canada and Mexico to compete with their insanity, someone like Karina could be good for Canada later. Im not conviced shed be good for Canada now tho given the current economic circumstances
