I feel bad she has to see so many bad takes about the album's sound. She clearly loves MAYHEM so much, said it was her favorite record in a long time, and put so much work and effort into prioritizing fans this era. It must f*cking suck to see some people dismiss it because they feel "duped" by the genre-switching and stuff. I hope she understands that many people love the album just the way it is

About all this "it ain't dark pop, she misled it with those dark visuals" narrative... Let's take into perspective the following issue: ARTPOP had a colorful scheme, full of light and joy when it came to the whole visual thing. The concepts and vibes (specially with what she transmitted through the era) tell pretty much otherwise. Did she falsely advertised ARTPOP too? Kind of the same thing with Chromatica too (it may be a stronger example)

Yeah, kinda feel bad. And she seems to enjoy browsing Tiktok too (maybe it could also be her team partially?). But I'm sure Gaga can take it, not the first time that people don't get her album.

Ok, we all know the concept of genre is pretty vast. There can be multiple genres in the same sonic sphere of music, in the way Disease and Abra aren’t the same genre but are still under the same hard-hitting electronic umbrella. There’s no denying that through singles, visuals and even snippets, the project has always been marketed as a return to dark electronic pop. There wasn’t that much talk of disco, funk or 80s influences, if at all. No need to be doing mind gymnastics to tell fans they shouldn’t be feeling the way they feel.

Then again, it doesn’t mean the album isn’t great. It just wasn’t fully what we expected or were lead to believe it would be, and that’s ok. Past the initial surprise, I think we’re all enjoying this music.

I’m also quite out of it in terms of the reception it has received outside of GGD, so i’m shocked.

Basically this. Fans who expected her to endlessly recycle Born This Way or any other era have only themselves to blame for not liking it. If there’s one thing we, as longtime fans, can agree on, it’s that Gaga always finds a way to reinvent herself, and she’s done it once again with an outstanding album.

I understand this, it’s a good take.

I  feel like the funky 80s vibe is still quite dark and hard hitting, minus on vanish. But there’s a lot of heavy instrumentation and sounds that lean toward dark pop/ electronic.
