Night Vision 3,068
I hope Gaga isn't disheartened by hearing stuff like this. The vast majority of the reaction to Mayhem has been positive. Hopefully she knows that any criticism isn't really a reflection of the music, it's a reflection of living in 2025. Someone always has to be mad about something.
Guest
My only issue with Mayhem is that I wish it'd be more in your face musically speaking. I feel like if you call an album Mayhem it should be suprisingly bold and unapologetic and in your face. For my taste ARTPOP delivered that, actually it was a trendsetter and ahead of its time, especially if you take a listen to the rawer versions (Stache for example) that are not on the album. I don't say I don't love Mayhem - I love everything she does - but I feel like it could very be the case that the label intereferred and demanded Mayhem to be more commercially friendly. I would not be suprised given the heavily commercialized pressure A listers face especially with all the streamers becoming right wing supporters. I don't know why there is a Taylor Swift song on this album. I guess if you take Mayhem more meta which she even stated in the Vogue cover story that this album is meant to be read from a metamodernist take - it totally makes sense why there is a Taylor Swift song on this record. In that sense it makes sense why this album/era is called Mayhem. I just wish if you only look at the music I wish there would be more rage-induced melodies and sounds like from ARTPOP's edm or the melodies from Bad Romance or TFM in general and less 80s inspired funk which has been around for the better part of the 20s. Foolofatook 109
I'm gonna come across rude and disrespectful but if you didn't like this album and were disappointed, then I seriously question your taste/knowledge in music and whether you are truly a Gaga fan. She kneaded iconic influences into to this album from the true greats of music and slapped sounds from all throughout her career all over it, sometimes from multiple eras in the same song. Her creativity as an artist has come to full term and a ****ing beautiful album has been born. Thanks Gaga! 1
Dona 122
Okay and where is this experimental chaos? Most of the songs sound like random 80's rock classics that would be playing at the grocery store without provoking a second thought let's be so for real you guys. 3

Exactly… The only album track that's release-worthy to me is Shadow Of A Man… Maybe Don't Call Tonight as a cute bonus track or something. The rest is so meh and you'll all admit it after the delulu stan spell wears off. The fact that this fanbase gassed itself into "loving" Joanne is proof ANYTHING is a misunderstood masterpiece to some of you as long as her name is on it. I didn't force myself to like the Joanne album, I genuinely liked it, even with its few flaws. As for MAYHEM, I genuinely enjoy this record too. She's beaming (so happy) all over this album and it still has her own signature flair incorporated too.

Bruh…Perfect Celebrity is exactly that. It’s basically battling with Diseases for the darkest song on the album.

It’s truly a matured version of fundamental Gaga, that pulls from everything she has learned while staying firmly rooted in where she started.
