Midnights debuted with 1.57 million in the first week.

Chromatica did 274k so I image it will be above 300k especially given that Abracadabra and DWAS alone are bigger than RoM

Oh I though Midnights was the one that was shy of 1M. I guess it was evermore or Folklore that debuted with like 800k.

I think Abra, Disease and DWAS wont count for this first week because they are previously released. They only count towards total album sales. Still I also expect the hype to persuade listeners to tune in

FYI, streams for pre-release singles don't apply to week one sales. Only toward certifications of total album sales. Only DWAS streams from this week count toward first week sales numbers.

...but DWAS was already a pre-release single

I already see stan twitter twisting this sadly. The same album with different color discs are not variants. You are still getting the same album. If fans buy 4 copies for some reason that is up to them.

At least Gaga is not purposefully persuading fans to but more copies by adding different demos or voice notes in each version. She has only stuck to the typical deluxe tracks.

oh get them again for me!!

mother, what must i do?

All streams and single sales before this week do not count for first week sales, only towards certifications and total album units. It's very simple tbh: all units sold, streamed and shipped this week will count for the debut week.

I'd much rather prefer to have an artist which do variants on different color schemes (so it's a collectionist thing, as it always has been) than one who makes 97 different versions with just one different song from the rest attached to each one...

Like... They're dragging themselves

DWAS streams accumulated since August 2024 won't count for the album's first week.

However the song's NEW streams from Friday onwards will.

The song's total streams, including all those accumulated since August 2024, will count towards the certifications.

Yeah I know but same situation with Abracadabra and Disease, right?

My question came up because they said later on "only DWAS" so that kinda confused me

But no number? Shallow article

To be fair, HDD is incredibly reliable and accurate when they report album sales. The fact that its been 24 hours since release and they are already saying its hitting #1 must mean the numbers are looking good.

Are they taking Playboi Carti's 5 years of anticipation and pre-orders into consideration, though? :ohno:

any chance its close to a million copies? i don't really know how this works, but with die with a smile's streams...

Don’t think so. The albums that end up debuting with 1M+ get tons of chatter about huge presales in the weeks leading up to their release. Not the case with Mayhem.
