Yes, to see the animation on a zoetrope vinyl, you'll need to use either a camera phone, as the effect is not visible with the naked eye. With your own camera phone, place the vinyl on the turntable and ensure it's under bright, direct light, then use your phone's camera to record the spinning vinyl, ensuring the exposure/brightness is lowered and the focus is set before pressing play. You may need to set the light to the appropriate frequency to match the speed of the animation on the viny or with apps, two that popular are strobelight & ilumiscope.
