What do you think the Metacritic score will be for Mayhem

I know it should not matter, Metacritic is flawed, we should not care about the metascore, but I can’t help it I care. I’m hoping she finally gets something in universal praise as she deserves.  I would love to see it be something over 80. I’m going to predict 83, although I would love to see 88.

Her (very very early) scote right now is 79. Only screwed up by Slant.

Acknowledging that gaga is always held to a higher standard, will fall under 80. It belongs above it.

I’m hoping because this album actually feels more GP friendly than expected it might also be reviewer friendly too.  I’m prob delulu, but I’m going to try manifesting over 80

This is probably accurate. But I hope it’s more.

Same. I've just spent all day reading reviews from fans and critics and know the album is divisive. It'd be nice if it could average out at 75-80+ but I'm no critic :Cautious:

in her tongue she said, "death or love tonight"

It’s very disappointing how divided fans are. I listened to this without reading anything and I loved it so much right away. I honestly went looking for discussions thinking it would be how excited everyone was and I was honestly so surprised and disappointed to see some of the reactions. Well I guess everyone has their own tastes and expectations. I’m just surprised because even if it all wasn’t as dark and hard as people expected everything here is well within Gaga’s wheelhouse so the negativity that exists seems very overblown to me.

Honestly I prefer to not judge anyone for having different tastes and not say someone has bad taste just because it’s different from mine. It’s just disappointing to hear so much negativity.

Yes!  It’s always quality. And “Stick with quality” is the lesson she took from Tony as she said in the LM press conference!

It's honestly fine if some fans don't like it, but I get disappointed with how so many of them will openly trash her on twitter. I can't think of another fanbase that treats a singer in that sort of manner. I even understand making one negative comment, but making multiple negative comments? I don't get doing that to an artist you supposedly respect.

Personally, this is my second favorite album. I love it. And yes, Gaga did talk about dark pop and NIN, but she also mentioned Michael Jackson, Prince, and Bowie, so I'm not sure why some people are so shocked it isn't 100% like Disease.

I think it will end up at 80-82 on MC. Not sure if it's included on MC, but Page Six gave a very good review (well, the tweet at least said it was Gaga's best album in 14 years), which will help. MC doesn't load "that" many reviews, but so far they've all been positive (that I've seen) except Slant (and even that was 3/5). Slant is annoying lol, they always drag her score down by a few points.

Unfortunately, the critics just don't really love Gaga (or Miley, Adele pre 30, Rihanna, etc.) like they do Lana, Bey, and Taylor. She will usually get good reviews-4/5-but rarely 5/5. They respect her vocals, but they just never give her those sort of raves.

But at the end of the day, it's about how we all like the music ourselves...not the fans nor the critics.

I follow a lot of big accounts on twitter (film twitter, entertainment journos, "social media figures", etc.) and they are loving it. It's genuinely kind of insane that the GP reaction-at least on twitter-seems to adore the album, while the lms are more polarized.

In the US, the critics definitely seem to be giving it 4/5 for the most part, so I'd be shocked if it was 72....I'm thinking 78-82 (but hopefully 80-82).

It never is okay to "trash" her or her collaborators, especially publically.

But tbh, this here - Gagadaily - should be a safe space, without judgement etc.
I have listened to the album multiple times now, and tbh I'm a bit disappointed, but there's also some amazing songs that sh** on any other Gaga songs from past years. Does that mean I don"t have taste ? no... just had other expectations tbh

I love LOVE LOVE EVERYTHING from Disease - Zombieboy.
(My absolute FAVS and really new Gaga highs are Perfect Celebrity, Garden of Eden, Vanish, Killah (dammmmmmnnnnnnnnnnnn), Shadow.

Lovedrug is okay, nothing bad, but that's where she started to lose me gradually - until Shadow of a Man - and then she lost me again with the last three songs, because the vibe is just way too different - chaotic, but not in a good way because

What I don't like - and she does this with every album - is 'oversell' the album's theme/concept/sound in the interviews/months leading up to the release. Everything she said about Mayhem is CORRECT tho, (about the trakcs I mentioned above). But the 'return to dark pop', 'industrial influence all over the album',.... hmmmm idk about that

Tracks like HBDYWM, Don't Call Tonight (it's not bad, just quite random), The Beast (gives SNL skit) and maybe even LoveDrug, I just don't know how they ended up on the album with all the other songs. Again, it's chaotic for sure, but not in a good way. Those songs r really too random, and way too generic. Sounds like something any other artist could have made.

So no don't state that 'it's quality because Gaga made it', GAga is still human, that's her whole point. She is not perfect, she is flawed like anybody else. It's normal that she makes good songs and bad songs.

And ok sure, they were in an expensive studio, and she had the best producers (I guess), but there is nothing substantial about those weaker songs (imo) that I mentioned.
