Spooky

I haven't been able to stop thinking about this song since the album dropped, it's very quickly rocketed to the #2 spot in my track ranking. There's this desperate, oppressive, overwhelming sadness in it that I know isn't what she was thinking about when she wrote it and sonically isn't exactly dark, but I can't help thinking about this film every time I listen to it:

It's perfect, I'm obsessed.

like a ghost, i vanish into you

I just LOVE the dark imagery of this album, it really is a gothic dream

When she says she wanna be a ghost and vanish into another person is such a sad picture because becoming a ghost is almost like losing your identity and everything that make you, becoming a shell of someone you once were, specially when she says she wanna just disappear on someone else. But in the context of the song, is so beautiful and romantic

I'm realizing a ton of this album is about perspective and identity, namely when you see yourself it's from the perspective of somebody else. She alludes to that in several songs :bradley:

The more I hear this song the more I’m convinced this is top 5 songs Gaga ever has released

That last chorus that’s more stripped back when she sing “by b-by by my bedside” and then screams “happy just to me alive”

CHILLS

Exactly!

"Vanish Into You" - she literally wants to phase into someone else like a ghost after she "dies"

"Shadow of a Man" - she sings about staring herself in the eye, something that's impossible to do from within yourself

"LoveDrug" - she sings about hoping to be blind and numbing herself

"Don't Call Tonight" - I get the vibe that she's singing about being so aware of this mystery person's take on things that she doesn't even need to hear it 'cause she can already anticipate what they think and hearing it would only hurt worse

GOD I MISSED HAVING THIS KIND OF MUSIC FROM HER

Chromatica just did not do it for me but f*ck Mayhem is perfection

I also love that the first couple times she mentions the photograph it's "by our bedside" and the last time it's "by my bedside"

An extra, subtle layer of storytelling there :bradley:

Something about this song reminds me of Gwen’s Early Winter.

The I-I-I-I sounds like when Gwen sings why-y-y-y.

Maybe it’s just me. I love both songs.

Where? It’s the second time I hear of a BR reference in MAYHEM but I still don’t see it

The I-I-I-IIII Vanish into you has the same sound as BR's Oh-Oh-Oh-Oh-Oh-Oh caught in a bad romance :ally:
