I believe she was reminiscing the days before she made it big and the community she had in New York. She seems to have missed it a lot. 1

jillianwoj 84
I can't even watch this woman without sobbing. She is so multi-faceted and talented but ultimately just a nerd at heart. It sounds like the weight of the world being on her shoulders wasn't as present during the creation of this album with Michael and the dogs providing a gravity and homebase for her emotionally and spiritually. I can't even imagine what her life is, was, has been. I love her so much. 🥹 🩷 1

chu95ck 306
30 minutes ago, ARTPOP said: Can someone summarise the interview please!! This is what she says about some of the tracks on the album: Blade of Grass: Inspired by a personal moment with Michael when he asked how she would want him to propose, and she replied, “Just take a blade of grass and wrap it around my finger.” This moment stuck with her, and she later wrote Blade of Grass, recalling the way he looked at her and the setting of their backyard. Perfect Celebrity: One of the angriest songs on the album. Explores her frustration with fame, questioning why she ever wanted it and what drives her need for success. Describes fame as a double-edged sword, where she constantly feels like she’s split between “Stephanie” (her real self) and “Lady Gaga” (her public persona). The lyrics make a mockery of celebrity culture, with lines like "Find my clone, she’s asleep on the ceiling," symbolizing the disconnect between who she is and how the world sees her. Sonically, it has an electro-grunge feel, inspired by 90s music, particularly Never Enough by The Cure. She initially considered naming the album Perfect Celebrity but later settled on Mayhem to better capture the album’s chaotic nature. Shadow of a Man: A deeply personal song about her experience as a woman in the music industry. Talks about constantly feeling like she was standing in the shadow of men but learning to “dance” in that shadow. A reflection of her journey, from being the only woman in many rooms to finding her own power. She acknowledges how different it feels now to be in a relationship with a man who truly supports her. The Beast: A revenge song, though she doesn’t specify against whom. While the lyrics don’t explicitly suggest vengeance, the energy of the song carries unresolved emotions. She describes the album as a collection of “Gothic dreams,” and The Beast embodies that theme—feeling haunted by the past but transforming pain into power. The lyrics “You can’t hide who you are, 11:59, your heart’s racing, you’re growling, and we both know why” symbolize transformation and embracing her inner strength. She also sees the song as a metaphor for herself on stage—her “beast” mode when performing. Cant Stop The High: An exclusive track available only on her website’s version of Mayhem and she describes it as harder-hitting than Perfect Celebrity, with an intense electro-grunge sound. Feels like an extension of the rebellious, experimental energy running through the album. Killah: She had been trying to collaborate with Gesaffelstein for over 10 years, and Mayhem was the moment it finally happened. While she doesn’t go into deep lyrical detail, the collaboration was significant for her, as it brought together years of admiration and creative vision. Zombieboy: One of the most fun tracks on the album. Feels the most connected to her early days in the Lower East Side—gritty, wild, and full of underground energy. She describes the song as capturing the spirit of the bars and clubs where she used to hang out and create music. The atmosphere of the track makes her feel like she’s back in that era, surrounded by artists and musicians who inspired her. Garden Of Eden: Gaga describes Garden of Eden as a 2000s throwback track. It carries influences from the electro, industrial, and pop sounds that shaped her earlier work. The song fits within the overarching theme of Mayhem—exploring identity, chaos, and artistic freedom. It’s one of the tracks where she blends multiple influences, showcasing her commitment to being a genre-crossing artist rather than sticking to one defined sound. She didn't explicitly talk about LoveDrug, Vanish Into You, Don't Call Tonight, How Bad Do U Want Me or Kill For Love Edited 17 hours ago by chu95ck ⚔️battle for your life ⚔️ 4 4
