I actually feel like we’re closer to Joanne’s level of promotion. Even that had more performances by now. The difference being Mayhem already has two worldwide hits at album release, whereas Joanne managed to debut strong without having a hit until months later. (which is why I wish people would stop worrying about Mayhem’s debut)

It does have that feel. But this time without Gaga being overworked and slightly unstable, without a bad news boyfriend on the scene and without the public saying she was too much and had got boring. It's great to see Gaga genuinely happy during an album cycle. It's ironic that usually when she's successful, it's when she's going through personal issues, but this time, she's successful and content, getting the best of both worlds. I couldn't be any happier for her. :kara:

Imo the problem of this era is the bad radio behaviour. Here in Italy i rarely catch abra when i listen to the radio, i don't understand why. Disease was not that radio friendly, abra is 100% radio friendly

There's no comparison to "Born This Way," and I doubt any era will ever come close to matching the hype and pre-release omnipresence that that album had in our collective cultural consciousness. She was everywhere for everyone, not just for fans who are already tuned in and keeping up and paying attention to the promo she does. Back then, it didn't matter if you wanted to keep up or not, you were going to hear about this album from the media and from people you know.

Honestly, I'm not sure if any album since BTW — besides Beyonce's LEMONADE — has so thoroughly saturated the culture and GP. Not even Taylor's TTPD or Midnights came close, IMO.

"Born This Way" really might end up being the album of the century. It was certainly the album of the decade. But that era — when the old media institutions still had a relevance / presence / power, but the newly matured digital media created a whole additional field of promotional possibility and fan engagement — is over. Now, media institutions (late night, Oprah, SNL) matter less than ever, and digital media has been taken over by social media in a way that seems to silo content to be seen mostly by those already interested in the content.

She is everywhere, and I really love this.

How do you feel? How exciting are you?

Did the first single shoot to number 1? Will the album sell 1 million + week one?

On purely promo levels, this is the least active era aside from Chromatica

By the time BTW was released, several of its songs had already seen a world tour's stage

ARTPOP had a festival and a few performances besides that before it dropped

The lead and second singles along with a few album tracks had been performed by the time Joanne released

Covid killed Chromatica so we don't talk about ha

But literally NOTHING from Mayhem has seen a stage and I'm starving for it :enigma:

Her schedule is packed for the next couple of days, granted, not everything are performances but this is extraordinary imo

March 7th: Ricki-Lee, Tim and Joel show (Australia)
March 7th: Black Girl Nerds interview
March 7th: NRJ Radio interview
March 7th: Good Morning America
March 8th: SNL
March 11th:  Stern Show

SNL is the big highlight in 2 days ofc :stalkga: hopefully she finally performs disease and abra live :vegas: And a Good Morning America performance would also be great :bradley:

The melody that you choose can rescue you
